Re: Halfway to Christmas (non clicky poll)
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties?
Have one the 13th during lunch at H's office. Second time they have done this. It's a pot luck and a White Elephant gift exchange. We may host an Epiphany party since we are un able to fit in a Christmas party this year.
How is the shopping for gifts going?
We're both done. H has never finished shopping for me so early. He's always shopping two days or the night before Christmas. I had to give H one of his gifts early last night because the chain he wears for his Miraculous medal broke.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath?
We have an advent calendar I bought from Starbucks years ago. I love how it's reusable and cute. The entire reason why I bought it.
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays.
Christmas is the tree. Holidays is spending time with family and friends.
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays.
All the crazy, stressed out people, crazy drivers and lack of Christmas cheer the closer it gets to Christmas.
What are you looking forward to the most?
All the extra time with H.
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties? Our local comic book store is hosting a holiday party; since it's at a time in which Vhati isn't working, we're going. I convinced him to wear his kilt while I wore the outfit I wore to the awards dinner at Steamcon.
How is the shopping for gifts going? It's done, just waiting for the last two things to come in; one will be here today, and the other tomorrow.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath? Did an advent calendar last year, but spaced on it this year. Haven't done (or made) an advent wreath since I was a kid in church; and Vhati has no idea what one is.
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays. Getting to spend a day with Vhati.
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays. Vhati's family.
What are you looking forward to the most? We get to sleep in this year.
Anything you want to add/ fun fact? Christmas has always been an all day event for my family. Generally didn't start opening our stockings till about 9, because my parents had to get me up, every year. Also, my parents kinda, over do it, when it comes to presents. Our stockings turned into "Santa Sacks" because there is so much stuff in them; generally, our stockings are items like toiletries, useful items, random silly things, candy, and small stuff that didn't fit under the tree....oh, and windshield whipper fluid.
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties? Doubtful. We are considering doing a post-holiday destressing wine night with BIL & SIL and another couple, and there is another couple we have an at home wine dinner planned with.
How is the shopping for gifts going? Eh. I still have to get 2 things for the kiddo and one thing for H.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath? Nope
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays. Staying up late Christmas Eve and wrapping presents while drinking wine and listening to Christmas records
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays. What are you looking forward to the most? Our work schedules blow and neither of us will be home til after midnight Christmas Eve
Anything you want to add/ fun fact? My parents will be in town for a month so I'll actually have a sitter. Wahoo!
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties? My work has a party next week and H's grandmom throws a party we're hopefully going to be up north for.
How is the shopping for gifts going? We are flying our asses up north. Our presence is our presents :P
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath? No. I do have a baby Jesus and a couple angels as a small "nativity set".
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays. The food. I love the cookies. I love getting to eat stuff I don't normally make. Lights are awesome too. I love driving around and looking at decorated houses.
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays. Picking out gifts. I'm not big on shopping.
What are you looking forward to the most? Going home. Having 2 weeks off from work.
Anything you want to add/ fun fact? The kids at work are already starting their "an exciting holiday/break is coming, let's all go crazy" behavior. UGHHHH. I made a kid cry today. This behavior is somewhat understandable (still not OK) the day or two before break, not a week and a half before. ROAR.
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties? Nope. Not too big on entertaining big groups of people. This Sunday, we have Christmas with my dad's family...which is a HUGE get together. They'll probably be somewhere between 30-40 people. I love it - I look forward to it each and every year! We're probably going to host a New Year's Eve party so our families can see our new house!
How is the shopping for gifts going? Going well. I'm basically done shopping. I've wrapped quite a bit as well. I need to get a couple more things, and I'm waiting on a couple of things to be delivered.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath? No, I want to get a weath though. I do have a nativity that I set out. Too bad, I need to glue Mary's hand back on and one of the wiseman's head back on. My cat decided to knock some of the figuerines over. And with the figurines being breakable....didn't end up so well! :-(
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays. I love everything. Christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year. I love gift shopping (usually end up going oer my budget on what I want to spend on people!). I love listening to Christmas msic. I love looking at Christmas lights. I'm hoping DH will drive around this weekend to go look at lights. I love baking as well!
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays. Having to go back to work the day after Christmas!
What are you looking forward to the most? Everything!
Anything you want to add/ fun fact? We need a new Christmas tree!! Our Christmas tree is like a 5 ft slim tree. It fit perfectly in our old house. However, since this house has cathedral ceilings in the living room and a big arse window in the living room, I need a new tree! The 5 ft tree looks PATHETIC! I saw one at Menards that I want. It's a 9 ft tree and it is FULL.
TTC since June 2012
How is the shopping for gifts going? Great! I have one more thing to pick up tonight that I need Mark around for, so I should be done in a few hours!
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath? No!
I'm so disappointed as I didn't get an advent calendar this year, which is the first time I've ever gone without. But Mark and I are doing the 12 Days of Christmas, which starts tomorrow, so that's kind of like an advent, but better!
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays. The baking!
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays. All the money that is spent.
What are you looking forward to the most? The 12 Days of Christmas that Mark and I are doing!
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties?
We have our family Christmas parties on the weekend before Christmas and on Christmas day. I just found out last night that H has a party with his work friends this weekend, so we're going to try to go to that too.
How is the shopping for gifts going?
I am mostly done. I've been kind of over shopping lately so I don't have a whole lot for H still.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath?
Nope...I've been pretty lazy on pretty much everything involving Christmas this year.
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays.
Doing some baking, seeing family, being able to relax
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays.
Travel and shopping
What are you looking forward to the most?
Honestly....when it's all over. There's a lot of driving in my very near future and I hate feeling like I spent my whole day or weekend in the car!
Anything you want to add/ fun fact?
We decided we're definitely getting a real tree next year. Ours looked fine in our apartment, but looks so small in our house. It's just not cutting it for us any more!
Going to or hosting any Christmas/ Holiday parties?
Went to one party I was supposed to only attend for an hour since I am behind on studying for an exam. My girlfriends and I get together after the holidays, so first week in Jan I may host a cocktail party or we may meet at a restaurant halfway btwn where we all live. Tomorrow is our office party, which I am on the committee for. I will be glad when things are done because I am a stress case right now!
How is the shopping for gifts going?
I was pretty good and got most of my gifts early. Parents, sister and her family are the hardest since they have everything already and/or are picky.
Do you have an advent calendar or wreath?
Wreath on the front door.
Favorite thing about Christmas/ Holidays.
Getting together with friends and fam, holiday spirit
Least favorite thing about Christmas/Holidays.Grumpy people shopping, driving recklessly and almost hitting me as I cross the street!
What are you looking forward to the most?
Just spending time and catching up with people
Anything you want to add/ fun fact?
I spent a lot on charity this year since I felt we could now that hubby has had a stable job for a year now. Felt I could give more to my animal charities and foster kids this year.
