Crane teardrop humidifier
If you have one, does it produce visible mist? We just got one this week. Can't see mist at all even when cranked all the way up, but it looks to be doing something (bubbles in cylinder in the middle). Does the water level typically take a long time to go down? I looked at troubleshooting in the manual but it seems we followed the directions correctly.
Also, how often do you drain and clean yours? I have to buy a filter for mine so I can stop buying distilled water (we have hard water), but won't be able to get to the store until the weekend at the earliest.
Re: Crane teardrop humidifier
If it is this one, you will not see mist even cranked up to the highest. When using it continuously if I have it at the highest it uses about 3/4 of the water so I empty and fill every night. When we are done using it I just lay it out on a towel to make sure it dries out completely before storing back in closet. I probably should be cleaning it somehow just never really thought of it till you said it

Now I'm wondering if DH really followed directions when he set it up. He tends to ignore instruction manuals...I will have to check when I get home.
I will be pissed if this thing is not working properly. I just bought it last weekend and DD is all stuffed up.
I don't know that the water level has gone done much at all. Maybe an inch since Monday? And no mist - that can't be right.

Definitely doesn't sound right. I run mine every night on low and it uses about 3/4 of the water a night...so you should definitely be using more water than that. Make sure when the water tank is on the humidifier the little trap door (or whatever you want to call it) on the bottom is pushed up so the water goes down into the machine. I've had a problem that if I don't have the tank on there exactly right it won't pop up.
