QOTD 12/13

So DH, a friend and I went on a quick little road trip to pick up another friend at JFK airport last night at about 130am.  We had alot of fun BSing and listening to music.  We ended up going to White Castle in what seemed to be not such a great part of town.  When we got there, we placed our order though the bullet proof glass and then had to get buzzed in to use the restroom.  There was another person in there and as she went to leave, she puts a joint in her mouth.  We finally get our food and run to our car.  Later we check the comments on FourSquare and someone said that while he were in there, a guy came in covered in blood sceaming he just got robbed.  Nice.  We did get home safe at about 430 am. I totally felt like I was in a Harold and Kumar Movie.

What was the last fun little road trip you went on?

  • H and I went to Octoberfest with a group of friends 3 weeks before our wedding in a town about an hour and half away.  Central Texas is known as the hill country and there are lots of windy roads and deer all over the place.  People are always hitting them and it's quite sad because most accidents are fatal.  Anyway, on the way back home, I started thinking about our upcoming wedding and marriage and it came to mind that neither of us have a will in place.  H has two daughters, I own our home under my name only, I own a business, and I just started thinking it was pretty stupid to not have something in place just in case something happened to one of us.

As I'm bringing this up and telling H that we need to be prepared if one of us was to pass away unexpectedly, a deer comes running out of no where from the side of the road heading straight towards us. H thankfully saw him before I did and swerved out of the way to avoid hitting him.  The deer actually ran along side the car for a few seconds before turning the other direction and running off.  It would have been a pretty bad accident and I probably would have gotten hurt since the deer would have come through the window on my side of the car.

It was very scary and we decided to hold off on the conversation of us dying unexpectedly until we were off the road and in a safe place!

  • I guess our honeymoon counts as a roadtrip because it took us about 4 hours to get to one location and 4 hours to the next.  nothing too exciting happened except that we saw a movie and were the only ones in the whole establishment until about 5 mins before the movie started.

my mom and i went to canada;s east coast a couple years ago and that was fun...except for the sketchy hotels we stayed in!  we actually slept with our giant suitcases in front of the door and knives by our bed.

  • Just the other weekend...some girlfriends and I drove to Vegas for a girls weekend.  :)  I go to Vegas a lot!  Haha.  This year, I think I am going 7 times, and I am going again next weekend....Last year, I went 5 times.  Yeah, I've been doing a lot of trips there lately.  It's a 4.5 hr drive from where I am, so easy enough to make a quick weekend trip of it.  It's a really crappy drive to do alone though.

  • The weirdest thing I would say would be the time a friend and I were driving through Maine on our way to New Brunswick (we are in Quebec we cut through)

Anyhow we are listening to the Mission Impossible theme... and we look beside the car and there is a MOOSE !! WTHECK... and we didn't know what to do so we slowed down...but didn't want to scare it...

and the moose was running in time to the music... it was so hilarious in a way... we eventually slowed down to a stop and it ran off into the woods... but GOSH!...  THOSE things are HUGE!
