Punta Cana DR anyone?

Experiences? Advice? Recommendations?

Worth it? Not worth it?

We'd be staying @ the Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa resort, Memorial Day wknd. Likely Weds night or Thurs am arrival, departure on Sunday.

We would be going for one of my besties weddings, otherwise the DR wouldn't ever be on our list of vacation destinations.

    I really liked Punta Cana - the beaches were beautiful.  We stayed at a different resort, but I would recommend and go back.

    We stayed at Excellence and I did not care for PC.  We got eaten alive by sand fleas.  I don't know if that is common on the island or not.  I also found the service was not as good as in Mexico.  We had to go for a wedding but I don't think I will ever go back.  I did have fun b/c I will have fun on any vacation but its not someplace I will go back again unless we have to.

    We went for our honeymoon in August. The beach was very nice, and the ocean is blue :-) We really enjoyed it, and thought the service was wonderful. But we stayed at a different resort. I personally think it is worth it. We would go back. If you want more adventure, there are excursions you can book to see more "cultural" things. Otherwise, just relax and enjoy the sun. Bring a good book with, and enjoy some fruity drinks.

    Of all the places I have been, the DR is my least favorite. Saying that, I believe that the Paradisius is one of the nicest resorts there and I am sure it will be much better than where I stayed. The beach is beautiful but the food where I stayed was fairly awful. I really enjoyed the parasailing. Since you are going for a wedding I am sure you will have a good time.
