Thrifty Tuesday

SO with everyone out Christmas shopping and everyone having sales I thought we could discuss that.

So how much was the biggest savings you had this year? What was it and where did you get it? And who did you buy it for?

Re: Thrifty Tuesday

  • Don't know if this technically counts, since I bought it for my Dad to give to my Mom, but I still bought it... :)  I got my Mom a coach purse and had a $100 off a $300 purchase, and so I saved $100 on her gift.  I don't think any of my other purchases topped that one, although pretty much everything I bought I ended up buying on sale/had a coupon this year.  I think the biggest savings on a gift I'm giving was a watch for my H- I bought him a Fossil watch, and was all set to go to the Fossil store until I saw the same watch in an ad on sale for $30 less.  I was pretty excited!

  • I hit up the Shutterfly 50% off weekend and made amazing books for 3 sets of parents for under 75 bucks!!! It was supposed to be like 150!

  • I bought a miter saw for H at Lowes and saved $100 I ended up paying a little less than $100 on it. So I saved over 50% on it!!! It pretty much made my day since I didn't know it was on sale for that much.
  • Nothing huge. We don't buy a lot of presents or anything really expensive. I used a 20% coupon for a present I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond and got another present for 30% off, but it was only $35.

  • We draw names for our family - and we got my sister and BIL and they are crazy football fans (unfortunately not the same teams!) so we found some really great stuff for them and their kids.  We bought them coats and hats and gloves for all of them and got it all for $120 which is what we were thinking we were going to have spend per person!  We saved a couple hundred bucks and H was THRILLED!!!
