Need home for cats

My aunt has two cats that are very sweet and love-able but don't get along with their dogs. They have to keep them in separate rooms and they feel so bad about that and want to give the cats to good homes where the cats don't have to worry about being around dogs. They are very good cats that are litter trained. I don't know much else about them but I can get pictures if you would like to see them. I hope someone can provide a good, dogless home for them!

Does she really need to find new homes for them? Our cats are not really fond of our dogs but they are still ours. When Tully and Kona try to chase the cats we give them a firm "No! Leave it!" For the most part they leave the cats alone and the cats are free to go where they want. also our cats let the dogs know who is boss if we don't catch it first. Just because they don't snuggle and cuddle together does not mean they have to be uprooted from their home and sent to live with strangers or worse be taken to the animal shelter.

They can't have the cats in the same room as the dogs. The cats attack the dogs immediately. They have a dog that has alzheimer's and some health issues and the cats attack that dog also. They feel horrible keeping the cats in the basement, but they have no choice right now because the cats attack the dogs. It's more than just not cuddling together. My aunt is the last person to give up the pet. She is very active in animal outreach and does a lot for many different shelters and has adopted many dogs from shelters who were going to put the dogs down very soon, so she isn't the type of person to just get rid of an animal unless she felt it was best for all involved. They really feel it would be best for the cats if they were in a new home and had a family that was able to give them more attention.

Is this a recent development?

I don't see the harm in keeping the cats in the basement and then putting the dogs up for a while so the cats get interaction time. Unfortunately as someone who works in cat rescue, there are way more cats than homes, so it isn't fair to give up a pet who already has home. That means one of my rescue kitties is SOL and stuck in a cage. A basement is better than a cage.
