Neccessary? Not neccessary?
Here is our situation - the boys' room is small. Pretty much all that is going to fit in there is the cribs and the dresser (which will have a changing station on top of it). The room next to theirs is now empty and will be the "playroom" - will have a bookshelf, swings, etc. So, if I get a chair, it has to go in the playroom. Just curious how much they're used before I find something that'll fit.
Unfortunately there is nowhere else in the house to use said chair either when I'm done with it so it'll get sold most likely, if that makes any difference.

Re: Rockers/Gliders
It's hard to say. When I nursed Jack (especially early when it was around the clock), I would sit on the couch in the living room because the brest friend pillow was too wide for my rocking chair and I would either watch tv or play on the internet to pass the time.
I would use the rocker occasionally but Jack preferred to be rocked/swayed standing up.
I did use my SIL's glider a few times at their house and I think they are pretty nice, but they are big so it would definitely have to go into the playroom. And they are pricey too but I did find a few nice ones on CL for cheap.

By the time we transitioned V to his crib, I was pretty much done nursing. However, I have used my glider constantly since. We got into a bad habit of rocking him to sleep but it was my after work cuddle time. We usually read to him at night and rock him to settle. Is it necessary? Probably not, but it's nice to have.
ETA: we did give him his before bed bottle in that sucker every night from about 4months to a year.

I don't know what I would do without my glider. I use it multiple times a day. Sometimes it's the only way I can get DD to calm down or fall asleep. We also use it for stories before naps and bed, and I nurse there at night and in the morning.
ETA - maybe it's because it's what DD got used to...but I really miss our glider when we have to try and get her to sleep somewhere other than our home.
Thanks, everyone.
A futon would probably fit but for some reason I don't want to commit to that. I think I might scope out IKEA or Craigslist for a bit to see what they have. I don't want something HUGE and honestly, I don't want to spend a ton so I'll start there and see what I can find.

The rocker was a lifesaver for me, especially when he outgrew the swing. I used to rock him every night before bed. We still use it to sit together and read and he likes to sit in it and rock himself now. I'm glad I had it.
We started out with with a Poang from IKEA then my mom gave me a rocker that had been in the family for a long time which was super comfy. The Poang gave more of a bounce than a rocking effect but they now have a Poang with regular rocking legs that is modern looking and not huge.
I didn't go the traditional nursery rocker route but I got a great deal at Macy's home store. I got an $1,100 leather chair for $400. It was a floor model that I negotiated down a little. I found my little belly was a useful bargaining tool!
I think you'd be fine with a rocker in the nursery! That may even work better, b/c if one baby is asleep you can rock the other in another room.
We have the "poang rocker" from Ikea in our nursery. We used it with Oliver and recently got him a regular poang chair (and moved the rocker into the baby's room). We sat in it every night for reading books before bed. It doesn't cost a lot either, so it's good if you don't want to commit to anything too expensive/big just yet.
I love the idea of the poang rocker! If we have a sequel, I might look into that!
We have an old school rocking chair that my parents gave us. I think I did 95% of my nursing in the rocker, in his room.
Even though he doesn't nurse or take a bottle before bed, we use the rocker for 'quiet time'- basically the 15 minutes before he goes to bed where we put on his sound machine and either read him stories, or I sit in the rocker while he quietly plays on the floor.
