Sigh, back to the drawing board.

I tried to make these for my students as a "Happy Winter Break" gift:

and it was a total disaster!  They're basically chocolate covered Oreos on a stick.  I was having issues melting the chocolate and I ended up wasting an entire bar.  The cookies kept breaking, too!  So frustrating!

So who wants to give me a new idea?

Re: Sigh, back to the drawing board.

  • Oreo sells white chocolate covered oreos.  Could you use those to make the face?  Then use some melted chocolate to stick the stick to the back.

  • If you're going to melt chocolate it's best to use the chocolate you get at the craft stores- it melts much nicer than chocolate bars

I don't think that stuff tastes like chocolate.

J: were you using a double boiler?

  • I got the chocolate bark from walmart to do cake balls, melted fine in the microwave and I thought it was delish...

  • I used the same stuff that I got when I made the Oreo truffles for Valentine's Day last year, so I really don't understand why it didn't work.  And I did use a double boiler!
