Re: QOTD 12/18

  • Last Tuesday - I had a fever.  Ended up with a slight ear ache, but I'm more mindful of coming in sick since I work with so many new parents (we had 12 babies this year in my program alone).

  • I think it was Monday, 11/26. I was horribly sick, I have never been so ill as an adult! I worked a 1/2 day Tuesday and partial days the rest of week. Before that, I think I might have called in once for myself not feeling well. Maybe. In the 12+ years I have been here, I have called in for my kids but not self.

  • Wow, I actually have an interesting answer to this one! Last time I called in sick was September, about 2 weeks before the wedding. I was in the ER with what turned out to be a gallbladder attack!

  • November 16 and 17.  I had to call in because I had wicked bronchitis.  I was coughing so bad and had low grade temps, headaches, body aches.  I'm a NICU nurse and its frowned upon to be sick around our little patients :-)
  • I use my "sick" time, but rarely for actually being sick. I also tend to luck out and be sick on weekends :(. I might be "sick" next Wednesday because we have someone coming to measure our kitchen and I want to be there and answer/ask any questions.

  • Ugh, sadly recently. I've had some health problems. I'll be okay, though.

  • Never. I never call in sick. I would rather show up to work and have them send me home. That may change when I become a nurse though since most policies state to stay home if you're sick.

    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

  • It was in May.  My mom and I planned a sick day together.  We were just going to lay around, wedding plan a little and spend time together.  She had a doctor's appointment in NJ and I always take her, but it was after work hours.  We went together anyway.

It blew up in my face.  I woke up a bunch of times the night before with my throat bothering me and woke up in the morning with a weak voice.  It got progressively worse throughout the day.  By 5:00 I had no voice at all.  I felt fine though.

I'm a teacher, so having a voice is very necessary.  I had to call in sick the next day, which was a Friday.  I felt bad, it looked like I took a 4 day weekend since I was fine when I left work on Wednesday.  A friend from work called the first day to see if I was ok and I couldn't talk.  When I called out the next day, I sent her a text and asked her to tell our principal that I had no voice.

It took like a week for my voice to fully come back.  Lesson learned: Don't plan a sick day.

  • I think it was in August some time.  I was sick for a week with some type of cold.  I only work with 3 other people in my office, so if one of us gets sick, we have to stay home to not risk getting the others sick and having more than one person out of the office.

  • I know I'm a day late on this, but I keep forgetting to check the nest!

DH stayed home last week because of a really bad cold. He has really bad allergies so a cold will put him right out. I haven't stayed home since probably may. I can't really afford to because I am one of three workers, so I must feel horrible if I am going to call in.

  • I rarely take a sick day. I think the last time I did was when I had a stomach bug a few months ago...I was all set to go to work and then almost passed out! I took my temperature and realized that I had a fever. No work for me that day.

  • I got laid off so I have as many sick days as I want LOL ok not really funny...

in the 14 years DH has worked for the company he works for he has taken 2 sick days... (and those were to spend with me when we first started dating)... even sick he goes in...

He runs his dept alone.. .so he doesn't have to worry about making other people sick.. he just loads up on dayquil and off he goes... he is so dedicated!
