I've posted about this before--but I'm hoping there is some new trick someone has discovered to help me out.
Nolan goes to bed great around 7:30. He nurses, just before he's asleep we stop and I give him the binky and put him in his bed and he falls asleep. He sleeps great until 1 or 2. Then he wakes up and is awake FOR 2 HOURS. If he's in is crib he cries. If we hold him in the rocker he's fine, but just lays there awake for hours. If we bring him into our bed he just wants to talk, crawl all over us and flop around.
Then he'll go back to sleep around 3:30 or 4 and sleep until 7ish. We get up right around 6--so WE.ARE.TIRED.
We've tried putting him to bed later, but if we get past 7:30 he's so tired he can't even walk straight.
Solutions?
Re: Sleep help--again
Last night I went to his crib when he woke up, calmed him down and put him back in. As long as I was standing there he wouldn't cry. I'd tell him night night and he'd lay down for a second. Then he'd pop back up. Rinse and repeat for over 45 minutes. Then I sat with him in the chair for an hour or so and he finally fell asleep.
Nursing doens't even work anymore to put him to sleep in the middle of the night.
If he could be getting his molars, I'd try Tylenol or Motrin. Heather's last burst of bad sleep was from 12.5 to 13.5 months. A combo of the developmental spurt and getting molars made that month suck (even with medication). Once we got past it, her sleep was awesome and her walking became a lot less wobbly.
We shall not speak of Todd's sleep. (He sleeps great now...)
Hugs!
He already has one molar and I'm assuming that other teeth are on their way (he only has 6 teeth total--the 4 front, one top molar and one top incisor)--but I sort of assumed that if it were teeth, he would appear to be in more pain. No?
Both my kids only seemed to have tooth pain at night. I think during the day they have so much to distract them.
Agree. It could be enough discomfort to keep him awake, but not enough pain to make him cry. My kids had most of their teething issues at night, too.
I guess we'll try some motrin and see if it helps! Thanks ladies!
