We aren't able to go to York on Christmas Eve this year because H has to work. I don't know what to do! Should I try to make it special? He's being a little apathetic about the whole situation, which is frustrating me. I mean, this is probably going to happen again next year, too, so shouldn't we try to create our own traditions? It's Christmas Eve for crying out loud!
Give me ideas!
Re: Christmas Eve Quandary
Definitely start your own traditions! Would he be up to exchanging the night before? I'm another vote for you two to exchange on Christmas Eve night. H and I exchange then. It's nice to be able to take our time instead of rushing in the morning.
I need more info on the schedule here. What do you do Christmas morning? What did you used to do Christmas Eve? Like did you spend the night in York?
ETA: I read your weekend post so I'm a little more clued in now. I would definitely make your own traditions. Maybe exchange gifts with each other (like other people have suggested), order out, watch a Christmas movie (not a Lifetime one, one Jim would actually enjoy like Four Christmases), drive around and look at Christmas lights, come to Ryan's family party in Arden!
boy (n): a noise with dirt on it
This is what we have always done: drive to York, go to church, eat dinner at his parents' house with pretty much the whole extended family, exchange presents, drive back home. His mom always tried to convince us to spend the night, but we like waking up in our own bed on Christmas morning.
I was just informed last night that he will be studying as soon as he gets home from work tomorrow night. Boo!
And also, when I mentioned exchanging presents he said, "But I like it when you wake me up on Christmas morning because you're so excited to open presents."
Ugh.
