Christmas Baking!

Not that I really NEED to make anything else but what is everyone making for Christmas! I am making Pistachio Linzer Cookies (the linzer tree cookie recipe from Family Circle), chocolate chip cookies and spritz cookies with chocolate dip/drizzle & sprinkles.

Re: Christmas Baking!

  • That sounds so good. Tomorrow I am going to help my mom start cooking for Christmas day we will make the dressing (stuffing), and 1 dessert (4 layer delight). And then I'm coming home to make a Triple Chocolate Mouse Cake from scratch to take to the IL's. H's stepmom thinks I'm Betty Crocker so she always asks me to make a dessert and this is her favorite. The cake is all from scratch including the mouse.
  • Yum! I'm making red velvet cake balls to bring for Christmas Eve at my parents' and Christmas at my ILs. :)

  • I'm not much of a baker, but I did make applesauce for my Grandpa (he commented on how much he missed my Grandma's at Thanksgiving), candied almonds and two loaves of artisan bread: cranberry/pistachio and rosemary/gruyere. The bread is finishing up now and it's taking all my self control not to eat it!!

  • I spent most of yesterday making pretzel yummies and delivering them around town as our holiday thank yous.  I had to make a ton, because H's friends asked me to bring them to their Annual Friend's Holiday party, too.

In case anyone doesn't know how to make them: Super easy.  Plop a rolo on top of a mini pretzel, and put it in the oven for 3 minutes on 350, basically long enough to soften the rolo, not melt it.  Pull them out, and squish 3 M&Ms on top!

     YUM!

My mom used to make 10 or 11 different types of cookies, but since everyone argues over who gets to eat her sugar butter cookies, she just bakes a ton of those, now.  Last weekend was our annual decorating shindig, and we all helped her decorate them (and sneak a few to eat :) haha)
