Who else is saying "goodbye" to their OB/GYN?
Re: Who else is saying "goodbye" to their OB/GYN?
I am so disappointed that my next child will not be delivered by the same dr. I really loved that practice. M's birth announcement still hung on the office wall. I practically lived there in the last two months before M was born.
Megs- that stinks! Have you gotten recommendations yet? I have a list from local friends I can send you. Who did the practice refer you to? I haven't received any notification yet.
I have an appointment in the morning, so they called me on Monday to let me know that I wouldn't be seeing Yester. I will be sticking with the same physical office. They're already bringing in other doctors besides Stern and Kaminski. I am seeing a female tomorrow morning. I can't imagine they're even going to discuss anything. I bet I will be able to cut the air with a knife, though!
I'm just thankful that I didn't have any issues throughout my pregnancy that I really would have wished to stay with the same doctors who know my story. I should also be glad that I have 2.5 months instead of mere weeks to get to know new doctors.
I'm thinking right now they're doing damage control and notifying those with current, scheduled appointments. I bet as soon as they figure out the doctor line up and/or can get more solid information together, they will send out letters in the next few weeks.
I saw Dr. Patel this morning and she was really great. She at least took a quick look at my records and could speak to them a little bit when she came in. I should have asked if she is sticking with the practice or if she is just filling in, but I didn't even go there. I'm not even sure if she knows the answer to that.
I just got an email (email? wtf?) from the practice. I am so sad!
Normally, I would probably try to follow the doctors, but we are about to switch to UPMC insurance, so that won't happen. I am unsure whether to switch practices or try out the new doctors in the practice. I have an appointment on Thursday, no clue who it will be with, but I am thinking of calling to find out.
This second delivery will be a planned c-section and that somehow makes me more nervous with new doctors than if it was a more routine l&d.
I can say that I really did like Suni Patel. She patiently and fully answered the few questions I had which is more than I can say for one of the docs who left. I'm just not sure if she is the same person as Sunita Katari or not (maybe a maiden name mix-up?). I'm thinking no, but I wish it is. The office staff at my location stayed the same, which a little bit of comfort to accompany the change.
DH is yelling at me for searching the doctor names to try to find out more. He said I should give them a fair shot before reading the online reviews. I can't find too much out there, though, and am praying the Stacey Carlitz reviews I found are coincidentally for some other OB/GYN with the same name.
I'm in the same boat as you, Nunu, I can't really follow them. There is the other UPMC practice (at least at my location) but even if I switched to them, it would still be me meeting all new doctors.
as someone in the medical field, take any "review" with a grain of salt. Chances are if you take the time to review, you are usually disgruntled for various reasons (you have to pay for parking, doctor was late, billing, or multitudes of other things). I personally don't trust any review that's anonymous as there is no verification or opportunity for rebuttal. I'd trust EBay reviews before half of the stuff on healthgrade or any number of sites.
How time flies! Caileigh (9), Keira (6) & Eamon (3)
I totally agree. If you read the article, the group gave 6 months notice and UPMC shut them out immediately. I don't really blame the doctors at all. And of course UPMC isn't going to let them notify their patients, that is lost revenue for them if the patients follow the drs to West Penn.
Definitely true, which is why DH yells at me! I was hoping to find fabulous reviews. The ones that were on there had no substance (her fingernails are too long?!) but it would be nice to find some good ones.
Alvarado delivered my first (c-section) and she was fantastic! Bishop did most of my PP care and both DH and I loved her care/personality. I had been seeing Dr.Yester a lot this pregnancy and also really liked her.
Megs, my appointment tomorrow is with Dr. Kranz (sp?). I might give you a review once I see her, LOL. I do feel a lot better now after hearing that these new doctors are supposed to be "permanent," even Dr. Kaminski, and not just filling in. I did the same thing as you and looked up reviews, but there wasn't much. My DH was annoyed at my anxiety over the whole thing. It's just a little nerve-wracking... Thankfully, I still have four months to get to know the new doctors.
