Did anyone else bring back bedbugs from Europe?

I traveled to Krakow, Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris for a month in September with family members.  When we were home a week we each started getting bites in our respective homes.  As it turns out we somehow got bedbugs from one of our hotels or on the flight back to the U.S. (we stayed in triple rooms together)   We have all been fighting them for three months using a professional pest control company.  Although each of our infestations were "small" per the PCO, the bedbugs spread to another family member's home prior to us realizing we had bed bugs.  It has been very expensive trying to eradicate them and none of us are sure yet whether we have gotten rid of them.  The bites can take up to two weeks to show and it is extremely difficult to even find the bedbugs unless you have a large infestation.  We were careful about where we stayed and read reviews prior to booking. Now I am worried that we may have spread them to the Hyatt and other places we stayed.

  • I haven't run into them yet (*knock on wood*).  But I usually remember to pull back the sheets and check the seams and pillowcases before using a hotel bed.  In Europe, in North America, and on all the other continents.

I thought I ran into bedbugs in Brazil once, but it turned out to be heat rash!
