hi ladies! so i work in a marketing/imports buying position currently, but my DH just lost his job this week. We don't have anything tying us down, home, , kids etc so we are pretty free to do what we want.
We were thinking of relocating, just for fun for a few years. But I'd obvisously have to find a job.
We are looking for going to North Carolina because of the low costs of living (we are from New England)-- so I was wonderinf if anyone has relocated before, how they went about finding a job pre-move? I feel like no one wants to interview me because I am not local, even though I am a great fit for the job and note that i am willing to relocate.
MY DH is in school so he is just going to transfer to the local college and get something part time.
Re: Job hunting for relocation
Your best bet is networking. Don't just apply to jobs. Reach out to good contacts via LinkedIn and start asking for advice. Approach companies you like without seeing a posting. Be aggressive.
Let people know you have a temporary place set up when you initially move but you have identified that area as your long term home. Unfortunately in this economy you may not get $$ for relocation but who knows, it might happen.

thanks for the info!
I am coming from a highly competitive market already so I know the challenges---and it stinks!
