The board is super quiet today and I'm sure it has a lot to do with the holidays so lets get things back to normal around here.
Question of the day:
Since we are all starting to think about kids and/or are pregnant I know we have been thinking a lot about names. SO if you had to change YOUR name what would you change it to? And why that name?

My Blog:Through My Eyes
When I was little I wished my name was Rachel and anytime I played pretend my name was Rachel. I have no idea where I got the name from and why I loved it so much. When I got older I wished my name was Ali, again, I have no idea where I got it from.
I used to hate my last name when I was younger, but I grew to love it when I got older which was part of the reason I didn't want to give it up when I got married (we both hyphenated). I am not crazy about my first name (Amanda) because it was insanely popular in gradeschool and also I just don't like it.
Hopefully it will grow on me as I get older
When I first started at my job, we had a rule that there could only be one person per name, and there was a 'Carrie' there already, so I had to pick an alias for my clients to call me.
I was shot down every time I suggested Bob, or Bambi, or Snuffalupagus
So I went with Molly, and it seemed to fit me. I can only think that I chose Molly because I used to do theater as a kid, and was Molly, the littlest orphan, in Annie, twice.
It was actually a little bit fun to call the IRS and be using work name

Actually I've always loved my name and went through a ton of nicknames so it was fun to be able to evolve over time. And as my dad said... I was named after b1tchy women in positions of power (which I always got a kick out of).
BUT.... in high school I went by Natasha for goofy reasons
I don't love or hate my name. It is kind-of bland (Kim) but everyone knows how to spell it and say it. It is common in my age group, but not overwhelming. I was the only Kim in my grade during elementary (I think) and there were 2 or 3 in HS. I like Kimberly more, but rarely go by it.
My MN is Kristian and while I like it, my initials were KKH. I was always so scared that I'd end up marrying someone with a last name that began with K. Luckily that didn't happen, now I'm KKB.
Oh, and I have no idea what I would change it to!
For me.. i'm Catelyn... my parents wanted Cate... with a C.. but didn't want Catherine.. so they pulled this spelling outta their butts. The most frustrating thing is no one EVER spells it right. I either get Katelyn or Caitlin. However, i do like the uniqueness of it...
Anyway... i don't know that i'd change it completely but i've often thought of changing it to Cate. Barely anyone calls me Catelyn, but as a previous post said I kinda like having a "formal" name. I've been putting Cate on everything since highschool. However, Cate sounds really funny with my middle name.. Catelyn flows much better.
My mom's name is Bambi lol but she doesn't look like a stripper so it works hahaha
I have a pretty typical name (Jessica). I usually go by Jess now, I used to go by Jessi but only a handful of people are still allowed to call me that. lol
When I played soccer we already had a Jessica so I had to go by something else, so because of a joke at school earlier I chose Coco. So I went by Coco for a few years. I would never change my name to that, though lol
I've always answered to Jennifer because I get called that a lot for some reason, I would use that as my alias when I went to clubs/bars in college.
I've gone by other names, but now that I think about it I don't think I'd ever change my first name just because it's so me.

I wouldn't change my name (Melissa), since my parents liked it so much. My parents never knew, though, how popular my name actually would be. In high school there were atleast half a dozen other Melissa's, and two of them lived down the street from me and we were all friends.
In high school Spanish class we all had to take a Spanish name, and I chose Juanita. I have no idea why! So, on parent/teacher night my parents would say their daughter was so and so. The teacher didn't know who I was! Lol.
I've had some friends at a pervious job call me Millie. I kind of like it. But I usually will go by Mel (never Missy. I have one friend who may call me that, otherwise, I will not answer to it). And for some reason or another, I always got called Michelle. And still do to this day.
OMG this was my alias at a job where there was another Christine already working there....how funny!

I wouldn't change my name, Emily, but sometimes it doesn't sound "grown up" enough and I don't have a "formal" version of my name. Everyone calls me Em, even my work, and so clients have caught on to it and then I feel like it sounds even less professional than Emily. My parents named me after a song they heard shortly after they found out they were pregenant with me. My middle name is Kathleen which is after my mom's college roommate who died of cancer a few weeks before me being born. My mom & dad call me Emmy Kate and my hubby is the one and only one I let call me Emmy. He says it cute so it's kind of his pet name for me and it's ok. Someone heard him call me this years ago and "tried" to use it and I shot her down super fast!
For a previous job I had to have an alias and I was Megan.
I love that I'm not the only one who has ever had an alias at work!
Most people look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them.
My favorite part of having an alias was when I would tell a client my alias, or my full alias (Molly Maidenname) and they would tell me what a beautiful name it was, or that I really sounded like a Molly. My response was always 'Thanks, I picked it out myself!' Everyone at work cracked up.
Of course, then my supervisor got a dog and named it Molly. ha. Not funny, lady. She even said it was because the dog reminded her of me. He was bright and cheerful, and chipper (um, ok?) andddd... had curly hair. Ha. Thanks.
