All of your rooms look great painted!  We are still sitting here with ugly primer walls.  We've had a lot of nail pops (or whatever you call it) so I'm glad we ended up waiting.  Have you had any?  I need to hire you to pick out paint colors and window treatments for me.  We still have paper blinds in most of the rooms.

  • Thanks! We hired someone to paint, but I did pick the colors. If you're looking at grays, blues and tans I can suggest a few :) We haven't had any nail pops yet (knock on wood!), but we've only been in since Aug. I've heard ppl in our plan say they got more the second year than the first. As long as the striped wall in the foyer doesn't get them I can cope. That thing will be a B to repaint. We didn't paint our stairwells yet, which is where they supposedly show up most frequently. I cannot stand that flat paint though, so I'm looking forward to doing them soon.

We just have the faux wood blinds from Home Depot (the regular stock ones), and all of our curtains are from Ikea. They make them nice and long so you can hang them high above the window (to highlight the height of the ceiling) and they'll still touch the ground. They aren't expensive either. The ones in the dining room are linen (they weren't pictured) and were $60 for a pair, but I also have some in the playroom that were only $15 a pair. The heavier ones require some pretty hefty rods, which was my only issue. It is very hard to find good curtain rods. I eventually settled on some from Lowes, but even though they were more $$ they are already bowing in some rooms.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!  I would never have thought of ikea for curtains.  I live so close to ikea.  I need to start utilizing it.

  • You're so lucky. I love Ikea! I got shelves for both kids' rooms, our jute rug and countless other things from there but it's so far for us. I also love Hobby Lobby. I could spend all day in those two stores.
