Lots of kiddos going to kindergarten in the fall!

Wow- reading that post I can't believe how big everyone's kids are getting!

Good luck to everyone - lots of issues to work out.  Don't let it stress you out too much - so many have the half day/full day issue that I bet you will find it works out better than expected.  A few of Caileigh's classmates in kindergarten (catholic school) came for the year b/c it was full day and went to their public school for first so while not the easiest thing to do its always an option out there.

And don't worry too much about them being bored - there are so many new things to learn and adjust to in kindergarten - it will take them a few months just to get over the "newness" and excitement.

Good luck!

Re: Lots of kiddos going to kindergarten in the fall!

  • Thanks Shelia Smile
  • Thanks for the tips! Honestly, it's going to be an adjustment whether it's full or half day I guess. And since Lanna didn't go to daycare, half day will help her to ease into going to school everyday provided we can figure out how we're going to swing it.
  • It's an adjustment no matter what, Sheila's right.  Ours is full day, but our elementary gets out of school at 2pm, so I still had to figure out what to do with him after school.  And there was a whole new worry about him riding a different bus home than he did to school, and I can't be there to make sure he got on the right bus. (He gets one bus in the mornings at our house, but he takes a different bus to afterschool at our daycare...and on Wednesdays, my off day, he brings the bus to our house!)  That's the hardest part, this person that you've pretty much been involved in every little detail of their lives for 5+ years, you no longer have that.  It's send them off and hope the teachers are good and that your kid catches on enough to know where to go/what to do.  It's a lot of fun though, and opens up their world to a whole new set of friends and activities.   And since Noah has started school, I have such a new respect for teachers. They work f-ing hard!
  • Good luck to everyone!  (And please take lots of notes to share with me next year! Stick out tongue)
  • Thanks, Sheila! :)  that is comforting...and at least we know there are plenty of people on this board to turn to when the end of August rolls around and I'm a blubbering mess. Crying

  • I'm glad I'll have all of you experienced kindergarten mamas to hold my hand when August 2014 rolls around.  I already have anxiety.

  • I'm excited for Faith to go to Kindergarten, but I'm a ball full of  nerves....all because she is becoming so sassy already!! ?? But I think she will enjoy it and hopefully we will get lucky and be able to have her in full day and not just the half day that they have here in Norwin....
