Neko Update

The vet just called at school and they are starting to run bloodwork and tests. He is afraid that the mouth lesions are from a cord, a toxin, or a symptom of feline leukemia. They also want to check his kidneys. Last night when we got home I checked all of the cords and didn't see anything. I don't know how he could have gotten in to a cleaner or anything either. He is always really curious though.

He happened to call during writing when my kids we're picking their topic for something/someone important to them, and half of them picked their pet. I'm right there with them and just really hope he is going to  be ok.

I appreciate your good thoughts as always.

Re: Neko Update

  • I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I know exactly what you are feeling. I hope they are able to find out exactly where the lesions came from.

    Thoughts and prayers to Neko!

  • Hope your kitty is ok!  We had a cat with feline leukemia... I really hope that that is not what your cat has.  We loved her dearly, but felt so sorry for her b/c she was on constant medication for chronic bladder infections. It is a really awful disease.

I've never heard of those symptoms having to do with it though... the cord or bacteria sound more like what the problem is.

In any case, good luck, and if it is FeLV, I'd be happy to help you with any questions.

  • Poor Neko!  I hope they can figure it out and he will be better soon.

  • Aw, that is rough to go through.  I know exactly how you feel though...my little story is 2 years ago, Abby was throwing up bright red blood and also passing bright red stools.  We had to take her to the emergency vet and she spent 2 days in the vet hospital.  We were so scared.  It ended up being colitis brought on by a change in food (she was staying at a kennel while we were away).

I hope they find out what is wrong with Neko soon and I hope it's something easily fixed!  Hang in there!

  • Poor Neko and poor you!  I hope they are able to get you some answers soon.  I'll keep sending good thoughts that it's nothing too serious and he gets better quickly.
  • Oh my goodness! I hope they figure out what's making him sick!
