  • Great minds think alike!

Mine-2000-3000 sq ft.  I know this is big, but I am tired of living in small places.
4-5 bedrooms.  2.5 car garage attached garage. hardwood floors.  toilet with a separate door and a Jacuzzi tub. at least 2 bathrooms. HUGE kitchen.

  • For now dream home: 3+ bedrooms with a spacious master bedroom, 15' square or larger. At least 11 feet in each directions with the bedrooms. ample closets in each room, plus a large walk in closet for the master. 2.5+ bathrooms. Master bath with a jacuzzi tub and shower. The powder room in a corner, not in a main hallway. 2+ car garage, with ample space for larger cars and or storage. Not one of those mini ones that only fits a smart car on each side. A basement with ample storage. A separate laundry room with a sink, and a mudroom off of the garage. A kitchen with ample storage and counter spaces, with a view into the family room, so I can watch tv while cooking dinner and cleaning up. No separate dining or living room. Ideally this house would be in the woods, but it can be on the edge of a development, with ideally only two neighbors.

For future dream home: Pretty much the same as before, except up the bedrooms to 4+, the bathrooms to maybe 3+, a 3 car garage, and a little more space everywhere in the house. Also this house would be in the woods, on a large lot so that there are no neighbors.

Seriously!  This!  I don't get it!  I looked at one house that was advertised as a two car garage.....the second bay had a staircase and the hot water heater taking up most of the space.

This is what I am talking about. My parents have a 2 car garage that has room to drive a 3rd car in the back, plus room for a workbench and plenty of storage.

I think this is because the culture of our society right now is that you park your cars in the driveway or on the street, and use your garage as a storage unit for your lawn equipment and other things.

Maybe.  I used to say it was funny how the people who didn't have garages wish they had them and the people who have them don't seem to use them for their intended purposes.

Just wish a house with a real garage didn't cost so much.

  • My dream house:

2300-3000 square feet. 4 bedrooms. High ceilings. Open floor plan with the living room open to the kitchen. Beautiful kitchen with cherry cabinets and light granite counters, double ovens, big farm style sink. A big island with cooktops and built in wine fridge.

A spacious master bedroom with a sitting room and HUGE closet. Three other nice sized bedrooms. Spacious finished basement with room for an exercise room. Oh and at least a two car garage.

Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.

Your future dream home sounds just like mine. My only change would be to have a dining room as well.  It doesn't have to be huge but I do have a china hutch and would love a bigger table for holidays and stuff.  I'd probably also use the dining room as my craft room.  :)  But seriously the rest of your description sounds perfect to me.

I will add a dining room later, but for now, it is not nearly as important as the other stuff.
