How long does it take you to hear back from your realtor?

How long does it take you to hear back from your realtor? I e-mailed her Saturday night with a house we really want to get into and take a look at, and still nothing. I'm going to try giving her a call in a little bit, but we are just starting out in our house search and I am not sure what the common time frame is to hear back. I don't want to be annoying, but I also don't want to miss out on a house. Thanks!

Re: How long does it take you to hear back from your realtor?

  • Usually I hear back pretty quickly, within a few hours or so.  I haven't tried to get  ahold of my real estate agent during the weekend though, although I'm sure she'd be ok with it.  I'd definately give your person a call or try emailing her again though.  Maybe she just had a busy weekend and is trying to get caught up.  If she otherwise has been ok with getting back to you, I'd let this time slide, but if it happens more frequently, I'd be a bit concerned.

  • My realtor was my age and she'd respond to texts, emails, etc very quickly because she had her cell phone set up to receive her emails immediately. She would let me know when she wouldn't be available or was booked. As long as the house is still under Active status, you should be okay. My realtor would make sure to get info on the houses we wanted to see (my first question usually was if there were any offers yet, how many, etc) in advance so she'd have that info when we met at house to view.

This.  If your Realtor is not getting back to you after a few days I would drop them imminently.  Our Realtor would answer all emails within a few hours unless she was out of town... in which case she would have let us know.

Our search took 8 months and even then we only got a house because we were a fast efficient team.

  • Our first realtor would take days to get back to us. needless to say, it was not a productive relationship. our second realtor would respond within 1-2 hours, and she got the job done. :)
  • Thanks everybody! I ended up hearing back from her last night. She apologized for the delay and said she had an issue with her cell phone, so hopefully it was just a one time thing!

  • I would say 24 hours is the longest you should ever have to wait. If you email them at night they may not see it until the next morning and especially on a weekend they may be with other clients showing them places. That being said they should still be able to get back to you at least to say hey I got your message lets talk about this at X time.

Im a Realtor and I always try to get back within 2 hours even if its to set up a time we can talk at length

I am a realtor and agree that 24 hours is the longest unless an away message is on the email.

  • Definitely within 24 hours including weekends, but usually within an hour or two.
