Update re Really? REALLY?!
H went in last night to work even though things were shakey. They said they were surprised he came. He told them, well I really want the job! After his shift, he ended up talking to the rep for the new company. I guess his trainer and the guy that gave him the road test told him Jeff drove like he had actually experience, not just out of CDL school. SOOOOO - they are taking his military experience! Nothing should change! He's moving to day shift tomorrow (well 4am) to train in that and he should be on his own next week.
What a relief! Really, who starts a new job for them to go under 2 days later?!

It really is. I didn't know what I was going to have to do. Second job was too much of an ego bruiser for H, but we needed to do something...
boy (n): a noise with dirt on it
That is wonderful!!!
I was thinking about this last night and couldn't understand why no one seems to count his military experience as experience. I'm sure making the transition from military life to civilian life is hard, why make it harder by denying them jobs that they would be qualified for?
I guess because people come out of the military saying they have driving experience and they don't and screw up. These companies are tired of getting burned. Basically, if your MOS isn't driving, they don't count it. H was a mechanic, but in a transportation unit and drove a lot. And he drove a lot for his dad growing up (not saying legally...) I think they are counting it because so far he's proven he knows what he's doing.
