Any MyFitnessPal users?

I was wondering if anyone is using the MyFitnessPal app. If you've been using it for awhile, have you had any luck at losing weight? Do you have any tips to share?

I started using this app on Monday.. I submitted my height and weight, and it's telling me the number of calories I should eat per day in order to lose 1lb per week (which I'm happy with). I've been entering everything I eat and staying about 100 calories below the range. I've noticed that this app doesn't seem to be too concerned about counting fat grams. After some digging into the app, I found the total fat grams allowance per day, and I've been staying about 10 grams below it.  I guess I feel like I'm eating more than I should even though I'm following the guidelines. Surprisingly I haven't been over-hungry so far as I usually am when I try to following WW points or another other diet. It seems a little too good to be true. I haven't weighed myself since the initial weigh in on Sunday night. I'd like to wait another week or so before I get on the scale again.

Re: Any MyFitnessPal users?

  • I used it VERY diligently when I was trying to watch my fat intake prior to having gallbladder surgery.  I was on strict low fat, but was trying to watch my calories as well since sometimes low fat can be calorie laden. Anyway, I lost about 10 lbs over the course of 6 weeks and like you, didn't feel overly hungry. It really helped in making some better choices!
  • Casey has been using it for about a month now and he's really happy with it. He's lost about 12lbs now, I think. He says it's pretty easy to follow and he likes that you can see the pie charts/graphs and stuff.
  • I just started using the calorie counter app.  I downloaded the free app from my fitness pal as well as the livestrong calori counter app.  I'm trying to decide which one I like more.  Both are pretty easy to use all.  I think it is going to be a tough call.

  • i have it and I like tracking what I eat (as I can be a mindless snacker).  I think the keys to success, like most eating plans, it to make sure you are properly tracking portion sizes.
