AW: My University
For the first time in my life I'm really proud to be attached to a certain institution of higher learning. ?My school won the MAC Championship over the weekend. ?They defeated the number 12- ranked team in the nation, and are going to our first bowl game ever, but that is not why I'm proud.
The reason I'm proud is this: we were invited to a bowl game in 1958, but it was in a segregated stadium and the two black players on the team would not have been allowed to play. ?The team (it was the players, not the University) said, thanks, but no thanks and refused the invitation. ?This is the reason we've never been to a bowl game. ?I have to say I'm proud of it.
