Hawaii Papakolea (Green Sand) Beach question

I keep hearing it's an easy hike, is that true?  We're contemplating taking a rugged terrain stroller with our toddler in it, but not sure if that would be out of the question.  Probably so, but just was curious :)  It'd probably change our opinion if we have to carry him versus push him for the 5 mile round-trip.

We wanted to do this hike the last time we were in Hawaii, but my husband tore his achilles 3 days before the trip, so no hiking for him!  We're hoping for better luck this time around!

TIA!

Re: Hawaii Papakolea (Green Sand) Beach question

  • We were there last week, but our friend had a proper 4x4 and drove us. He said the hike takes about 45 minutes, and it's just flat dirt trails/grass with a couple of small knolls. However there is zero shade and it can get windy. I'm working on my blog post about the trip and will have it done within the next couple of weeks, and that should have a lot of stuff about beaches and hikes and restaurants. Cool

  • Thanks!  That helps a lot.  I think we'll end up just using the carrier and not messing with a stroller for that part, but that doesn't sound terrible.  (Granted, it'll be my husband carrying him, not me, so 45 minutes might be horrible haha)
