Highmark associated doctors...

Anyone wanna recomend your Highmark affiliated General Practitioner, OB-GYN and/or Pediatricians (I'm not liking our current UMPC office anymore).

I'm in Forest Hills at the moment but traveling isn't an issue.

Re: Highmark associated doctors...

  • I use East Suburban OBGYN in Monroeville and I've been really happy there.

I particularly like Dr. Duggan and Dr. Nguyen, but I've been happy with all the docs I saw during my pregnancies.

The office delivers at Forbes Regional.

  • Ditto East Suburban. I was so sad to have to switch when I got a new job and UPMC insurance.

For Peds I like Premier Medical. We go to the Penn Twp office but they have a great office in Penn Hills. Took DD there for a saturday sick visit and they were great. A very nice office and easy to get to. Hope that helps.

  • Thank you.  I will look into your suggestions.

  • I also go to East Suburban. I used to go to the OBGYN Assoc. of Pgh Magee practice in the offices behind Miracle Mile, but had to switch when our insurance changed.

I was initially disappointed, but I ended up really liking the doctors at East Suburban. I saw Pelakanos before I got PG with Lanna and didn't love him, but once I rotated through all of the dr's I found ones I liked more. My fav is Selednick, but I also really like Peticca. Duggan didn't make a great first impression, but he grew on me and I really liked him once he delivered Wes. In fact, I'll have a hard time choosing who to see for just regular GYN now because they were all good. Pelekanos doesn't seem as caring as some of the others, but he's nice enough and he is supposedly a very good surgeon. The Monroeville office gets very busy, so I'll probably stick with White Oak for my GYN now. But I really ended up liking Forbes for delivery too. My room was so much nicer than my sister's at Magee!

For peds, I highly highly recommend Children's Community Pediatrics of Monroeville. Again, they're all good (and the office staff is nice, which is hard to find), but we like Varley the most, followed by Schott.

This is who my kids see, too.  We love Dr. Varley.

I agree with Mandy on Pelekanos. He's very knowledgeable, and he's an amazing surgeon if you need to go that route, he's the one I'd see. But for regular GYN visits, I wouldn't choose him.
