How Often Do You

Not wear your wedding ring? Do you sleep with it on?

I have a friend that only wears her ring to work then takes it off as soon as she gets home. Of course she also wears it whenever they go out somewhere.

I typically wear mine all the time during the day but I do take it off if I'm doing dishes, cleaning, painting and taking a shower. I also take it off at work when I scrub in for surgeries, clean surgery packs or have a really nasty feces issue to deal with.

Re: How Often Do You

  • I only take mine off when doing sterile procedures and dealing with fecal material.

  • I never wear it at home...only out. I take off all my jewelry as soon as I walk in the door.

    Same.

  • I wear mine at home and out. When I was first engaged, I was terrified to sleep in my ring, but I'm over it now. I only take it off when I shower or when I am cooking something messy or raw meat that requires me to touch it with my hands. I have this little ring dog in my kitchen for the purpose. His tail is extra long and he keeps up with my rings. Otherwise...I'd probably lose them.
  • I wear mine all the time. I never take it off for anything. Of course, I don't do surgeries or anything brutal like that, but I do have a second job where I work with meat, and I've gotten like bacon grease and dry rub smeared into my ring, but I've always been able to easily wash that stuff off. I literally wear my ring 24/7.

When we were just moving in to this new apartment, our leasing agent had a tattoo of a wedding ring on her finger. She said that a few years ago, she had a house fire and lost her wedding ring in that and I asked myself why she wasn't wearing it at the time. I guess I didn't realize until now how common it is to not wear it at home.

  • I wear mine all the time, even when I go to sleep or take a shower. The only time I take it off is when I'm doing something like mixing raw meat or really sticky dough.

  • When we first got engaged I wore it all the time (except for in the shower, or if I was cleaning using caustic agents).  After the wedding, now that I have 2, for whatever reason I seem to get more irritation underneath.  I think it's because I wash my hands & use alcohol sanitizer at work at lot, and since I have eczema it doesn't take much to set off an irritation.  I think since my wedding band is thicker than my e-ring as well it holds moisture to my skin more.

So now I've gotten into the habit of taking it off while I sleep so my skin can "breathe" so to speak.  Still don't wear it while I shower.  And if it's a weekend day and I'm lazing around the house before I've gotten showered/dressed I don't wear it.  Like right now, it's almost 3pm and I'm still in my PJs =]

  • I always wear mine when I'm out, unless I'm compounding something sterile at work.  I don't wear mine to bed or in the shower at home, or if I'm cleaning with harsh chemicals, washing dishes or handling raw meat.  If I'm just lounging around at home I don't always put it on either, like today I didn't put mine on at all because I haven't left the house yet :)

  • I take mine off when I go to bed, and then it goes on after I shower and stuff in the morning. I don't wear it when I do yoga. Every once in a while I take it off when cooking , but not often. I'd say I wear it 90% of the time.

  • I always wear mine. I only take it off to shower, wash dishes, if I'm messing with meat, or any other object with chemicals or dirtiness. My fingers also swell some when I sleep so if I wake up with swollen fingers I will take them off for a bit in the morning but put them on before I leave the house.
  • I pretty much wear mine all the time now.  I take them off to shower, and when I'm putting my hands into something icky, but that's really it. I put them back on after lotion-ing.  I guess I also take them off when re-lotioning my hands here at work :)

I remember when I first got engaged, I asked myself (and whoever was around, haha) if I was supposed to wear my ring every time I started doing something new.

Working Out- Should I wear my ring?
Washing dishes- Should I wear my ring?
Going to the beach- Should I wear my ring?

I probably drove people crazy :)

  • I only take mine off to shower and then I put it back on as soon as I get out.  I also take it off occassionally if I'm doing hand dishes or cooking.  I have a bad track record with losing jewelry, so I am terrified to have it off too long.
  • I wear both rings every day. I will occasionally take off just my engagement ring when I get home. I cannot sleep in my rings because my fingers swell when I sleep and they get way too tight.

  • I always wear mine, except when I'm putting on lotion or my friends want to try them on. I sleep when them on, shower, do dishes (although it's rare that I do them since DH does it!) and to cook.

  • I amost alway wear mine.  I take them off to debone chicken or messing with raw meat.  I also take them off if I'm painting or doing house work that I'm trying to protect them from.  DH takes his off at night though.

  • I wear mine all the time unless I'm doing something particularly messy with my hands..but I leave them on to sleep/shower/hang around the house.

But...at the moment, my E-ring doesn't fit (the woman at the jewelry store forced me to get it sized down too much so its been tight for a while, but it's even more tight now!) so I'm only wearing my wedding band at the moment.

  • I wear it all the time except when I shower. My engagement ring got caught when I was washing my hair once right after we got engaged...so from then on I take my rings off to shower. I wear them the rest of the time. When I was working at woman's shelter I didn't wear it to work because it can be a trigger for many woman who have been abused (and I don't really care to hear them bash men all day when I am married), but at the co-ed shelter we have more men then women and I like them knowing I am married.. .clients try and hit on you just a little bit less when they realized your taken so I wear them all the time now.
  • I wear my rings all the time.  I wear them to bed, to shower, to cook dinner (when I cook), to the gym, to work.  I did take them off over the summer when I went out on my friends boat.  I also will take them off when I am doing something super messy.  I will be taking them off when I paint the bedroom next month.

  • I wear my ring all day at work and then when I get home I take it off and put it in its 'spot'. I rarely ever ever wear my ring at home. If we stay home all weekend and dont go anywhere, I'll go the whole weekend without wearing it. I love the hell out of my ring but its like getting home and taking off your bra. You just wanna get comfortable. So I take my ring off too LOL  :)
