Indoor activities for a 1 year old

I'm drawing a complete blank on places to take Jack this winter. I'm just looking for places he can run around and play. The only place I can think of is the PTM and I've never been there and I'm wondering if he too young?

Any suggestions would be great!

Re: Indoor activities for a 1 year old

  • I have a membership for the zoo, for 1 adult + 1 guest (kids 2 and under are free).  And it includes parking. It's like $60 for the year.

I take my nephew there semi often on the weekends, and we hang out in the tree house.  He's 2, and has a blast.

Charlene Piacentini Carey's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (currently-reading shelf)

  • We are big fans of the academy of naturla science. Cheap, even for a mwmbership, never full. Ever. The third floor has this "outside in" place with live little animals (fish, rabbit, turtles, frogs) and a pretend porch area with books/puzzle. And the butterfly room is cool. And al te other stuffed animal displays are fun. F loves it. Plenty of room to run the halls

  • I always vote to bundle up and take outside to the park. I do find backyards are boring in winter though.

Smith Playground's indoor house is open in the winter for 5 and under and it is free.

We like longwood and it isn't as busy now that xmas is over. but this is a place where membership is cheaper if you go once every season then buying tickets.

  • I'm with letranger, bundle him up and take him outside. I have a bunch of crazy warm winter stuff if you need anything additional.

Brooks went to PTM for the first time at 9 months and LOVED it. We got a membership for his first birthday and it's great, but it's also full of germs. Fortunately he isn't the kid that always has his hands in his mouth or putting things in his mouth, so we wash hands or sanitize every exhibit.

  • He maybe just slightly too small, but there is a place in Hatfield called Jumpin Jacks. It literally is a giant warehouse of jumpers, slides, games etc. and only 10 bucks per kid with no time limit. They also have a separate area for younger kids so he doesn't have to merge with the older kids. Ava loves it there and they can just run wild.
  • Let's see:

In Norristown there's Superior play systems that has free open play from 10-1 on Wed and Friday

In Hatfield there is the Bux Monts Indoor Sports Center that has a play thing on Mondays and Thursdays. Under 2 is free. They do a story time too. They open up the soccer field with a bunch of balls and cars and blocks and the parachute etc.

  • There is an indoor little play area in the Plymouth Meeting Mall that looks kinda fun. It usually doesn't seem to crowded.

I also enjoy the Elmwood Park Zoo, kinda small but they do have a big play area and it is completely empty in the winter, I was able to get a membership on Groupon last year around this time for cheap. It is mainly outside though
