Woohoo, my name finally changed at work
Only 3 months later! No one told me it was changed Monday, but today I noticed my email to/from changed to H____.

Another girl just got her name changed, and she got married June '11. I think 3 months might be a record.
I had to have my new driver's license, social security card and marriage license... then it went to our HR, then over Civilian Personnel advisory center, oh and IT. Gov't always find ways to make it more difficult than it needs to be. I kept bugging my admin about updates. I still have to get my ID changed and health insurance
Wow, you would think the goverment would be super on top of stuff like that. Who do you go to with that kind of problem?
The day I came back from my honeymoon, my boss gave me a half day off to get my social changed and get a new name badge, then another half day to get to the DMV when my new SS card came in to change my license. But this was because my mom and I work for the same office in the same department and he didnt want people to make that connection when he put me on the permenant payroll.
I contacted IT, and they told me someone in HR has to update my name... she's notorious for not knowing anything. I emailed my admin about it, I'll go bother her this afternoon because she doesn't response back to emails that she did something. HR likes to go through admins, not us.
I had to wait for my Friday off to get my SS Card since they are only open 9-3 M-F and I work 7-430, then I had to get my certified marriage license for my driver's license... then I gave it all to work to get my name change started.
It's ok. I knew it was going to be like this. My CW got married right when I started here. She had to call 14 people to get her name changed. 14! Even then she'd call them, and they will tell her that's not their job call someone else... and it's the same person to told her to call them! vicious circle of "not my job". We had a bet on what would get done first, her name change or my clearance.
