We got a Trader Joe's maybe a year ago and I've never really shopped there, but I keep hearing people talk about how great their food is. For those of you that shop at Trader Joe's, what do you like from there? (or what do you NOT like?) I went there once and was so overwhelmed that I just turned around and left, but I'd like to give it another shot
Just curious, I feel like I've seen a few of you mention it on here.
Re: Trader Joe's?
I just got back in from a Trader Joe's trip! I can't recommend anything, really (this trip was only my second), other than the dark chocolate marshmallows (SO good), but oh man- Once we have our own place I'm definitely going to go nuts. Tons of interesting snacky kinds of foods and frozen stuff.
Would love to hear what everyone else recommends, too
I agree about the snacks, but my favorite is the 2 (or 3) buck chuck-- it's Charles Shaw wine, and used to be $2 a bottle. I think it's up to 3 in most places now, perhaps more?
They can't sell wine in grocery stores in CT, so we don't get it

I do like a good bit of their frozen appetizers and candies but I don't have specific ones so it's more of a when I visit my Mom kina thing. I do LOVE their California style dried apricots (amazing). Their box of "guacamole" which is just the fresh ingredients and instructions is also a reliable one.
When I lived in California I actually had a local non-chain grocery store I did most of my basics there and the produce at a farmer's market. Trader Joe's was my go to micro-brew and wine place. Always the best selection where I was for decent prices.
2 buck chuck is great...DE doesn't sell in stores either, but it is good.
I am a trader joe's addict...H and I make a trip once a month or every 2 months, depending on time and what we need.
Here's my Must-Have List that I stock up on every single time:
-Chicken Broth (soo good and it is free-range organic)
-Eggs
-Milk
-Our dog loves their chicken jerky and rawhide with chicken...she gets angry if the trader joe bag comes home without them.
-French Fries
-Stir Fry frozen mix (one of my favorite easy meals--just add rice and soy sauce!)
-Orange Chicken-great for quick meals
-Their chicken breasts and tenderloin (something about it...less fat, more lean and more in the bag while being cheaper over all)
-Boneless, skinless Salmon fillets
-Angus beef (all cuts--I have found it to be overall cheaper)
-Vintage Colas
-Chai Mix
-Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcakes are to die for...
-Hazelnut Milk Chocolate
-Chicken Cilantro Frozen Wontons
-Re-fried Beans (cans)
Things I don't recommend:
-Onion rings--they are a little bready...
-Their brownie mixes...they're too healthy. This goes for that instant brownie "goop." Seems like a good idea, but its not.
Hope this helps!
ERMAHGERD!! I LOVE TRADER JOES!!
I'm SO sad there's not one near me where I live now. I used to shop exclusively at the Trader Joes in Charlotte when I lived there.
Everyone has given some really good suggestions, I just want to throw out that I love their produce prices, WAY cheaper than any other grocery store I've been to.
The only thing I don't like is they didn't always have everything I needed. Maybe mine was just small, but they lacked specialty items that the local grocery store would have. BUT, they make up for it with other awesome finds I couldn't find anywhere else... For example: freeze-dried strawberries. So yummy, but could only find them at Trader Joes.
