I've been in my current position as a sales assistant for about two years now. When I started this job I had every intention of becoming a sales manager, however, it has become clear to me that is no longer the career path that I would like to take. I've started looking at some alternatives and am very interested in Human Resources.
There are a few opportunities that I'm interested in pursuing, I am hesitant though because I am getting married April 20th and already have my honeymoon booked. Would it be foolish of me to start applying for other jobs before my wedding?
I'm not miserable at my job, but I've heard that HR is very difficult to get into and I am finding a few positions that I am qualified for so my fear is that if I wait there may not be openings when I am ready to begin looking. What would you do? Thank you!

I do agree with the PP, you could interview and let them know of your plans. And most likely it would be unpaid, Can you afford to take the time off unpaid?
If it were me, i would wait until after the wedding, its not that far off. And on top of the last minute wedding stress you could be adding new job stress.
I agree with both points.
The place where I had been nearly a year had agreed to give me unpaid leave off for my wedding and honeymoon since I hadn't been there long enough to take a paid vacation.
A few weeks before my wedding, I got a phone call about a resume I had posted on a job site. The hr of the prospective company wanted to give me a phone interview. I told them I was getting married soon and would not be able to start the new job until after my honeymoon, if offered the position. The hr was fine with that and I began working my new job a few days after returning from my honeymoon.
It turns out when I quit the other job, they paid me for the vacation time I had earned while there. So, it was as if I had a paid vacation while on my honeymoon.
The first thing I thought of when I read this post was "new job stress". I would be careful about starting a new job before the wedding. I am sure everyone's experience is different but I started to freak a little 30 days to the wedding then I managed to calm down for two weeks. The week of the wedding was terrible for me. I worked that week. Things that I thought had been taken care of started to unravel and I had to find a way to fix it. I don't know how it would have been if I was still training on a new job with all the commotion that was going on with my upcoming wedding.
Do it. There will always be some excuse as to why its not a good time to change jobs. I accepted a new job a week before I got married and went in the Monday after to give my resignation. I got a huge payout of all my vacation time. Plus the first few weeks of a new job you are often getting adjusted so its usually not too crazy.
One recommendation, DO NOT mention your wedding or time off during interviews, bring it up after you get an offer and do the salary negotiations. I've never heard of someone not getting a job because of a planned vacation, so I wouldn't stress about it. There is no reason to draw attention to something that has no impact on your ability to do the job.
Give it a whirl just cause you have the interview doesn't mean you get a job.
Just consider yes extra stress before the wedding and new job stress. Second I would say you have a prebooked vacation not that it's for wedding/honeymoon.
Say whatever you are most comfortable with, but everyone I applied with before getting married, was very understanding about me needing time off to get married (out of town wedding) and go on a honeymoon.
If someone asks you if there is anything you have planned or any time you would need off in the next six months...be honest. If you hide it, it could cause problems.
Apply defly but I wouldn't work right before the wedding, that is stressful enough,
Ever thought of working from home?, I'm sure you have but with all the scams out there you were put off, I am a stay at home mom as well, and have been working from home for the past two years, I paid nothing to start, you can make about $100-$220 daily with NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES,
