Washer/Dryer Recommendations?
Anyone buy a washer and/or dryer recently? Any recommendations, pearls of wisdom, or things to avoid?
Last night our dryer just decided to stop heating up and drying clothes. So I will be heading to the laundromat tonight to dry my sopping wet clothes. We've been having a problem for the last month or so with the washer leaving clothes super wet, like they were just laying in a pool of water. Between the two issues, I'm not sure if it's worth getting a repairman to come out or just spend the money on new ones. I think they are about 10 years old.
Re: Washer/Dryer Recommendations?
We have el cheapo ones from Home Depot. One repair that the Mr. fixed himself for about $100. Cost us $600 for the set.
They're maytag, if that helps.
Maytag is good right? I don't think I want top of the line because I don't think we'll live there forever. As soon as the housing market picks up we'll probably start to think about moving.
We are so not fix-y at all, so uh, unless it's like clean out the filter...it ain't happening here. ;-)
I always forget about this. The stuff is not used right? Just dented, or maybe a return or something? I want cheap, but decent and not used. My work has a discount through Whirlpool/Maytag, but the cheapest I'm seeing there for what I'd want is about $500 each. I was hoping to go a little cheaper than that.
Do you have mildew issues with the front loading washer? I've heard all these horror stories about it getting gross inside. For that reason I was going to stick to top loading HE washers, but I've never had a front loader to have personal experience.
We bought brand new/scratch LG washer and gas dryer from Queen Appliance in KoP. I did price comparisons against the big-box stores and they beat them by several hundred dollars.
Washer: LG WM2650H
Dryer: LG DLEX2550
ETA: we've never had a problem with the mildew issue. I have always left the drum door open when laundry is not inside and I am usually quick to flip wet stuff into the dryer. There was one LG model that we saw that has a small interior fan that drys the drum after you have emptied the laundry. We did not feel it was worth the extra cost.
