...get a book "hangover" after they finish a good book or series?
I have spent 6 months (okay, more like 7....) finishing the "Wheel of Time" series. 14 books, almost 12,000 pages. This morning I finished the last book, and I feel so sad that it is over! Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome, epic series...highly recommend to anyone who likes fantasy, but I just feel like the characters I've been reading & thinking about for all these months are gone now. It's been all I could think about since I started the last book, since it is literally a battle for the entire book, action on every page, characters dying left and right...
Am I crazy, or does anyone else feel this way? I haven't had a book hangover this bad since the Harry Potter series ended...and this series was 4 times as long as that.
Usually I start reading another book the very same day, or next day if I finish it at night...but I feel like I might have to mourn the passing of this series for a few days before starting another book!
Re: Does anyone else...
First of all, yes.. I totally know what you mean. I get sad and sort of bummed out to no longer be a part of the charachters lives!
Secondly.. THANK YOU! I have been trying to remember the name of that series for years. I started it, and was probably at least 6 or 7 books in, when, for whatever reason, I stopped talking to the guy I was borrowing the books from. At the time, I got busy, and just never searched out the books on my own, but since then, I have thought of them often, and wondered what was going to happen next, even though I don't necessarily remember all of what I had read so far.
I will definitely be putting that on my list!
THANK YOU!

Yes, I definitely get that way! I haven't been that wrapped up in a series since HP and I am always looking for a book/series that will suck me in and make me not want to put the book down. I recently finished Outlander and while I thought it was a good book, I didn't find it as amazing as everyone played it up to be. I'll probably continue on with the series just to see how it all wraps up but I found the first book easy to put down, I hate that in a book!
I'm still not over the fact that HP is over. I sobbed throughout the seventh book the first time I read it and have read the series another couple of times.
I read Hunger Games and Shades of Grey last summer and I was so disappointed that I read the whole Shades trilogy that I gave my dog a treat when she chewed the books while we were gone one day. I need a new read!
I read both of those last year too! Haven't found anything I have been so addicted to since then. I wish they could have just kept going.
I love a good book hangover!!
The last one I got would be Hunger Games... I really quite liked that series.. been looking for a good one to start... i've read a bunch of little "series" of Nora Roberts books.. when i'm looking for an easy read.. but I haven't gotten invested in anything in quite awhile...
This! I read all 4 Twilight books in a week and didn't get much sleep because I couldn't put them down.
I started the HP series a few months ago. I enjoy the books, but haven't gotten into them as much as I did with Twilight (maybe because I saw most of the movies before I started reading). But I stopped halfway through the series and am now re-reading the Twilight series. I may have a problem :-/
Glad I could help you out! And yes, definitely recommend...the last book was AWESOME. I mean they all were great (except there was one book that I thought kind of dragged, whatever...) but the last one was the culmination of 13 books worth of storylines. Just a) sad it's over and b) sad that no one I know has read them so I can't even talk to anyone about it!
