Those who read Divergent, (Spoilers)

****For those who have NOT read the book be aware that there are spoilers in this thread****

I just finished the first book last night and I am wondering what everyone thought about the book?

I really did like the book and I think that I may have liked the story better than the Hunger Games.  I did sometimes have a hard time following the author and thought some of the editing wasn't right.  The one thing that glares and me and really bothers me for some reason is at the end of the second training session when they put up the rankings, they do not make sense at all.  Tris is is ranked #1, okay.  Then they say that Al is ranked 10th and I think Christine is 9th.  How is this possible?  They started with 9 transfers, and 2 left after the first training.  They didn't include the Dauntless born because she talks to them after to see what their ranks are.  Now I know that I just need to get over it, but how could the author/editor make such a mistake?

I also thought that it was a little predictable.

Re: Those who read Divergent, (Spoilers)

  • I missed the errors in Divergent.  I caught a few in Insurgent.  I guess the errors are what is causing the year 1/2 long delay for book three.  She wants everything ironed out before it goes to print.  All in all I didn't find it anymore predictable than the Hunger Games series.  I can't say for sure until book three comes out, but I think I like the Divergent series better.

  • I loved Divergent, and I think I like the series as a whole better then HG. I *made* all the summer interns read it last summer haha.  Actually they know I read a lot and it was my #1 suggestion.

I didn't notice the inaccuracies, I guess I just understood so-and-so was ranked above the other...

Can't wait for you to read Insurgent. I read it at the beach and LOVED it!
