Date Night/Restaurant suggestions

DH and I have a date night planned for next weekend, and we're not sure what to do.  We talked about going to see the movie Lincoln, but we were also trying to come up with something different.  Any fun ideas?

Dinner will most definitely be involved so restaurant recommendations are also welcome!  We are open to anything (type of food/price/location).

Re: Date Night/Restaurant suggestions

  • Fun!

A coworker was just telling me about this Narcisi Winery in Gibsonia, have you been?  It looks like they serve dinner, too.

I always enjoy bowling or Dave & Buster's.

  • We have not been there, but I have heard about it and always wanted to try it.  Good idea!  (I can't believe I live so close to a winery and have not been there!)

I haven't been bowling in a while...although I am married to a nerd who is on a bowling league and bowls once a week! haha!

  • I have so many restaurants I love.

If you want something different you could do BYOB at one of the east liberty ethiopean places. I love the food there. I prefer Abay, but Tana is also fun, and you can drink fairly cheap before heading somewhere else for the rest of your evening.

Tamari in Lawrenceville, and then hitting some of the bars on Butler street and ending the night at Arsenal lanes? Saturday is 9.95 all you can bowl and $1 off top shelf liquor.

Kevin Brennan--SNL writer--is at the Improv that night. Steve and I always enjoy a date night at the comedy club.

I also like the shows at the Cabaret theater downtown. Right now it's You Say Tomato, I say Shut Up.

  • This is not very close but DH and I went to Out of The Fire in Donegal for my bday dinner last week and it was really good. Small menu and BYOB but really a nice atmosphere. Again a drive but keep in mind if you maybe go tubing or skiing at Seven Springs. It is on the way. The filet was wonderful. And so was the pb carmel cheesecake for dessert.

  • Abay is good - I agree! I am also a huge fan of Siba restaurant out on Rt 228 if you've never been there. Very nice atmosphere and great food.

Have you seen Les Mis which is playing until the 27th? That could be a fun option, but not sure if you or Rich are into musicals. You could get dressed up...

  • We are obsesed with Narcissi. It's a costly obsession though. :) It's fun now, but oh my gosh go when you can sit outside. I feel like I'm on vacation.

I was going to suggest Tamari like Lisa, but if you want to stick closer to home they have one in Warrendale. Be sure to make reservations though unless you want to sit at the sushi bar. We got there at 6 and the next open table was 8:30! We sat at the sushi bar and got in and out no problem.

  • Tamari is a good idea!  We have been to the one in Warrendale, and really liked it, so maybe we will try out the one in Lawrenceville (which is actually a lot closer to us!).

Beth - Siba is really good!  I've been there, but I don't think Rich has - if we end up going to the movies, I will have to keep that one in mind. We both enjoy going to musicals, so Les Mis would have been nice, but we only have a sitter for the 2nd.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

For whatever reason, I like the one in Lawrenceville better. I think it's got a younger / livelier vibe to it.

Get a reservation and have an amazing night!

Steve and I like occasionally going on a random week night for happy hour and sitting at the bar with cheap drinks and half price food :)
