Diploma changes?

Hi nesties, I used to be active on the knot during my wedding planning but I have a question that you career gals may have an opinion on. My husband and I were married in the fall of 2010, I graduated with my MA in May 2010. We just moved across the country and my diploma is missing from graduate school. I was about to reorder it so I can have it framed for my office when they had a note on the application "if the name above is not correct submit a name change request with proof such as marriage certificate". It never crossed my mind to change my name on my BS or MA degree, but it will be hanging in my office where no one knows me by my maiden name...thoughts? What did you do?

TIA!

Re: Diploma changes?

  • i dont think its necessary to change it, you earned the degrees before you were married.  I also dont think anyone in your office would take notice. I'm sure it is very common. Both my bachelors and my MBA are in my maiden name- I got my MBA in Dec 09 and got married in May 10.

  • I think they're supposed to stay in the name that you had when you earned the degree.
