Hello

just wanted to introduce myself, i've floated around some of the boards but i'm new to this one.

My Name is Kara, i'm from Pennsylvania. DH and i have been married since Sept 8. and we are buying our first home. a 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage with a second workshop/garage on a little less than an acre. We have no little ones yet but hopefully before long there will be a baby to be planning on.

we are both super excited about our new home. we currently rent an apartment in town, and just can't wait to get out of town.

we found our home the week before we got married. it was a private party sale - no realtor to deal with. we signed the contract the first day back from our honeymoon and agreed to settle January 30 (to give the seller time to renovate thieir new home). our paperwork has finally made priority with our Lender and the ball is now rolling. as of today we settle in 4 weeks! so i guess it's finally time to start packing. we plan on moving out of the apartment the weekend before and staying with his parents since we'll have our own room and bathroom (seller is letting us store our belongings in the second garage before settlement) giving us time to not be rushed and then a quick clean up job before we turn the keys back in. after settlement we are ripping up the carpet and painting the bedroom then moving in the weekend after we settle.

Sorry this is so long, i am just super excited!!

Re: Hello

  • Congrats and best wishes for a smooth settlement!
  • Enjoy your new home!
  • Congrats!

How  was the whole private  party sale? Did either of you have real estate experience going in?

We are currently looking at buying later this year or early next.  We already have a realtor so I don't even know if this would be an option for us.  Any info you have would be appreciated.

     Thank you :)
