Some asked for an update...so here it is.
Brinley saw the pedi for her thinning hair issue. The first thing they wanted to check was her thyroid and her blood count and send her to a pediatric derm. Both blood tests came back normal.
We saw the derm yesterday and he thinks it is likely telogen effluvium. Which is basically what happens when a mom loses more hair a few months after giving birth. A larger percentage of the hairs go into the resting stage at the same time. It can be caused by stress, trauma or a few other things (thyroid, low iron levels, etc.)
However, he did order some additional bloodwork to check for low iron levels, autoimmune disease and disorders, and diabetes. The last two terrify me--but I'm hoping for the best and like that the doctor is being thorough.
Re: Hairloss Semi-Update
Mandy--
I posted about it a few weeks ago. The hair on the back of her head has gotten very thin--while the top of her head is still nice and full. She has a lot of long hair, so it's not really noticeable to anyone except me, when i comb her hair.
And at one point when I was brushing it, small clumps were falling out even when I was being gentle and her hair didn't have many knots.
Fingers crossed all comes back fine in her bloodwork. Like moms don't have enough to worry about! Keep us posted.
I know right!
