Kids and butt wiping

I know, I know.  It's a very exciting topic.  But what's the age that kids start to wipe their own butt?  DD does her own wiping for pee but we haven't even tried to get her to do her own butt yet.

I'm just wondering because next year she will be going to full day preschool (3 days a week).  As far as I know they don't get any bathroom help.

Re: Kids and butt wiping

  • FUN! Ha.

DD turned 4 last month and I still tend to wipe her butt at home. At school they are on their own for most part but I can always tell when she goes #2 and wipes self. Can we say ring of fire?? Yikes. Indifferent

DD has bladder of steel and will not go pee until last possible minute which makes the urine very concentrated. So we have issues with her front getting red too.  JOY.

  • Good question.

DD does her own wiping for pee--but we haven't attempted #2's either.  Heck, I still use a wet wipe on her for #2's because I can't get it clean without the TP getting stuck in her crack.

Our preschool is different, because it's at her daycare, but she most defintiely get's bathroom help when needed.

  • My boy has no interest in wiping his own bum.  Sad  Trust me, I have tried to get him to at least start learning but he's not having it. I find it pretty frustrating.

As for school, he just goes #2 in the evenings so bum wiping at school since he's been PT'd is a non-issue.

  • no luck here. he is 4 1/2. fortunatly he doesn't go at school time. he really doesn't want to even try it.

It is frustrating. and possibly our fault for just doing it...but..its just easier...Embarrassed

  • DD has done it herself since she was around 3, definitely by 3.5 b/c that's when Wes was born and I became glued to the couch for several months. On occasion if she has an upset tummy I'll get called in for backup, but for the most part she's self sufficient.

we are about the same here with Faith! I just had no energy at all while pg with Robbie! Plus we had triple digit temps too, so I was one moody momma who wanted to do Nothing! Very ashamed of that, but it happens
