Neko is home!

I was relieved that we were able to pick Neko up tonight. They were able to rule out the feline leukemia and kidney failure, which I feel much better about since neither would have been good. He has to go back next week and check for an autoimmune disease or virus, a lymphoctic stomatitis, reaction to dental disease, and they listed electrocution...which I'm just laughing at since they won't really ever be able to rule that out!?

I've asked if the mouth lesions can be a symptom of the above causes, because IMO, that would be really strange if it were. The doctor also mentioned something toxic, but his screen was ok. I've checked all of our cords again and no cleaners were left undone, so it is all very strange. Anyway, I'm really hoping one of those is the cause and not something he'll need daily meds for.

Thanks for your positive thoughts, they were appreciated today!

  • I'm just catching up on this, Megan.  Scary stuff - poor Neko (and you - that's such an awful, nervewracking feeling)!  Glad to hear you've got him back home where he belongs.  Hopefully he starts feeling better soon and they figure out what's going on with him.
  • I am glad he is home and hope it turns out to be nothing.

  • I'm happy to hear Neko is back home and that they were able to rule out feline leukemia.

I know you said you checked all your cords and chemicals, but by any chance do you use one of those continuous toilet bowl cleaners (either the tablet or the thing that hangs on your tank) and he may have drunk from bowl?  We had an owner give up a dog to the rescue one time and he had horrible mouth lesions.  The owner had no idea why till she told us they let him drink from the toilet all the time ...

Give him a snuggle from me -- hope he feels better soon and you find the underlying cause.

  • I'm glad to hear your were able to bring Neko home.  I hope they are able to find the cause and treat it so you're able to put your mind at ease.  Keep us posted.
  • I'm glad he's home and I hope they find the reason soon.  Good luck!
