Comforters

I'm looking for the new house--but I'm not sure exactly what I want.

I'm thinking something fairly neutral, with a pattern so I can add some fun brighter throw pillows and not get sick of it instantly.  And not white.

Inspire me.  What's on your bed?

Re: Comforters

  • I wish I could help, but the last we bought was just a duvet cover from IKEA that sorta matched the color of our new bedroom and was less beat up than our old duvet cover. it is just striped and a color that wasn't too feminine for K.

i like some of the patterns West Elm has

  • We have a down comforter with a few different duvets, mine are mostly striped and a I have a couple solid ones.

But I actually prefer a heavy weight blanket/quilt because our room gets ridiculously hot. Plus they are much easier to wash when the dog wipes his drooley lips on the end fo the bed (our bed and his head are level)

We are currently using this from Target:

    Threshold Organic Blanket

I love these from LL Bean

    Honeycomb Matelass Bedspread

    Vintage Matelass Bedspread

    Berry Hill Reversible Quilt

  • I have a set similar to this one from Bed Bath & Beyond but in navy blue:

    Monaca Quilt

I was flipping through the Pottery Barn catalog and dreaming last night when I saw this duvet cover:

    Logan Stripe

It breaks my heart to spend $150 on a duvet cover, though.  They shift and drive me up a wall.

  • I am a big fan of the Ikea duvets.  I have like 4 of them. They are fairly inexpensive. they have patterns or not, some are reversible so you get two looks in one for the money. and they come out with new ones all the time.

I would much prefer to do this and toss it up then to spend a ton of money on a set and be "stuck" with it forever and / or be angry when something kid or cat happens to it and I am

I have one similar to this

ALVINE ?RTER duvet cover and pillowcase(s), multicolor Duvet cover length: 86 " Duvet cover width: 86 " Pillowcase length: 20 " Duvet cover length: 218 cm Duvet cover width: 218 cm Pillowcase length: 51 cmand similar pattern to this this in red

ALVINE KVIST duvet cover and pillowcase(s), gray, white Duvet cover length: 86 " Duvet cover width: 86 " Pillowcase length: 20 " Duvet cover length: 218 cm Duvet cover width: 218 cm Pillowcase length: 51 cmand a small vine one in black and white

I would like to get a grey one next...

our room has red and white walls

  • We got a nice set for Lanna with the comforter and shams from Marshalls. I generally prefer down comforters to regular ones, but it's a lot better quality than comforters I've purchased in the past. I'd definitely suggest looking there (or TJ Maxx or Home Goods).

On our bed we have a down comforter (also from Marshall's) with a plain white comforter cover from Ikea and a tan quilt over that (from BB&B). It's very neutral, but our sheets are white with a red dahlia print, so that adds a bit more color. I have one large throw pillow and two pillows covered in shams that match the quilt, but I was determined to keep the accent pillows to a minimum b/c they are always on the floor!

Gabes occasionally has nice comforter covers too. I actually saw the one we got from there for our guest room on TV last week randomly (I think it was on Big Bang Theory).

  • i'm doing a surprise room make over for my mom while she is away.  i needed something neutral. i found this and got it w/ a 30% off promo code for only $100! i can't speak to the quality of it yet i have not opened it.
