VERY short layover at LAX

we have a 3 part flight NH-Honolulu. We will be going int LAX for the connection to honolulu but only have 38 minutes in between to make it for that flight. Is this crazy, or can it be done? I've actually never been through LAX so, I'm not sure of the layout. We are flying Delta if it matters... TIA

Re: VERY short layover at LAX

  • Are both flights on Delta? If so, you should be in the same terminal and fine. If you had to switch to an international terminal, that would be crazy. Sounds like you'll be ok.
  • I agree with the pp, as long as they're in the same terminal you should be fine. Go to the Delta web site and put your flight numbers into the flight status thing for yesterday, today, and tomorrow to get the arrival and departure gates. If they're similar for all three days that should give you an idea of whether they'll be in the same terminal. Although just for my own peace of mind I'd probably look to see how many more flights to Hawaii Delta had the rest of the day in case you don't make it.

  • 38 minutes imo, is not enough time. i have a 1 hour minimum rule.

  • I fly to LAX several times a year and I always fly Delta. If you're going from Delta to Delta, I can almost bet your connecting flight will be the next gate over. LAX is not a hub for Delta and the terminal is not that big. Don't carry on too much and have your boarding pass ready. I'm sure you'll be fine.
