Sesame Place & Discount attraction memberships...

Last year someone posted about a google deal for $99 to the Aquarium (thank you to whoever that was!) we joined and love it.  Unfortunately we can't use it a lot because DS can't go out in public a lot this winter. Preemie + RSV + Worst flu season ever = lots of staying at home!

once it gets warmer we are going to want to get out more.  My mom wants to get memberships at Sesame Place but I'm thinking DS may be too young this year. He will be one at the beginning of June.  What do you think? I may tell her to wait until August to get them because then she gets the rest of this year and next year if she waits.  But I just saw SP has 20% off memberships right now too.  Is this a good deal? The cheapest plan is only a few dollars more than a pass with the free second day. [essentially a two day pass]. DS would be free so we would only need them for DH and myself and my mom would probably get one because she is off on Fridays and I work from home Fridays usually so I could cut out early haha

Are there any attractions that would be good for a one year old though? If so, any pointers for discount memberships? Do you see deals like the one I mentioned often?

ETA- to those who are members at SP.  I see there are different levels and some include parking and preferred seating.  How does that work? If one parent gets it and the other doesn't will we get preferred seating or do we both need it? I'm trying to save money where I can ... if we even get them.

sorry that was a lot to ask!

Re: Sesame Place & Discount attraction memberships...

  • It seems like TN ate my response from yesterday.

We love our zoo membership, I think it is $110 per year for the basic package including parking, usually $12 per visit (and all you will need considering he is too young to ride the other attractions) which is two visits for our family of five so it has paid for itself plenty over. I think it's great for younger kids and a nice outing for you and Grandmom

We also have a Discovery Museum membership that can be used interchangably with PTM however at his age I would wait till next year for that pass.

Thanks! I'm thinking about the Zoo... I'm going to wait for SP until next year too.  Although they have the deal that if you buy it in August you can use it the rest of this year and next year so I will likely do that.  he will be 14 months in August so he may enjoy it a bit then!

    Thanks!

  • I agree you should wait until next year at least for Sesame Place.  We went for the first time this winter when DD was 2.5.  There was still a lot of things she was still too small for, but she definitely enjoyed it.  She mostly just watched the shows/parades, and only rode a couple rides.

I would also wait until next year for PTM, Discovery Museum type places.  There is only so much you can do until they are old enough to walk.

Another vote for the zoo!  Great deal for membership.

  • would this year be too early for the zoo?

ETA- also LandD your sig pic freaks me out every time I see it.  There is a picture of me wearing almost the same snow suit and in the same position and everything as a baby. I keep thinking it is my picture haha Too cute though!!!! I'm hoping we get more snow so I can get some snow pictures of my son!

  • I think this year would be nice for the zoo, assuming you enjoy the zoo as well. It's stroller friendly which makes it good for the babies.  And even if it's just to get out of the house, it's a nice option.  We had it when E was a baby, but for perspective we also had a membership when we had no kiddo.

That's so funny about the picture.  The picture is from two winters ago, I currently have no access to my siggy...which the nest IT has been working on for about two years. ;-)  E will be in college and I'll still have that picture for my siggy.

  • I agree w/ SP, it's too early, and it's pretty expensive since each person needs their own season pass. If you get it, definitely wait and do that deal in the fall. The water park part is fun, I thought, but not as enjoyable w/ a 1 or 2 year old.

It isn't too early for the zoo at all. That is probably our favorite membership. Plus the new children's zoo should be opening this spring.

We have had the PTM membership since DD was about 18 months and have found that one great, as well. It's more $ than the zoo, but not terribly so.
