Feeling Frustrated

Yesterday morning we put in an offer on a foreclosure (through Fannie Mae/Homepath).

Today we received a counteroffer from them.  It said response subject to seller's final approval (management approval).  Our realtor made very little attempt to get in contact with us (she sent and email and called my husband, didn't call me).  About an hour after we got that we accepted.  When it was relayed to them that we accepted they said that another offer had come in 30 minutes after they sent their counter.  They said that since the didn't have management approval and that generally took 24 hours they had decided to continue accepting offer until Thursday.  They said that is didn't matter when we had accepted the counter that since it takes 24 hours to get management approval they would have continued to take offers.

I feel like this is really crappy.  I mean why counter if you were going to continue to take offers?  Ugh

So now everyone has until Thursday at 1215 to submit offers.  We submitted a new one tonight.  Then they'll apparently make a decision Friday or Monday.  I'm so frustrated.

Re: Feeling Frustrated

  • Yes, that happened to us twice - foreclosure/fannie mae. We were outbid both times, the 1st time we were excited because our offer was pending approval and was the only offer they had, they extended the bidding period for 1 week and a bunch of offers supposedly poured in. Honestly, after that, we stopped looking at foreclosure - we don't have that patience and we were stressed and nervous.

Fingers crossed you hear good news Fri-Monday.

  • I'm really sorry you're going through that. Buying a house as difficult and heartbreaking.
