XP Margate Resort NH

I realize this board is totally dead but thought I'd give this a try.

Has anyone been to this hotel/resort in Laconia, NH? From the website it seems like not the fanciest place, and maybe a little cheesy, but we are looking for a fairly inexpensive place for a short family vacation this summer - we have a 15 month old who loves to get in the water. This place seems kid-friendly and the prices are great - just wondered if anyone has experiences there. Thanks ladies.

Re: XP Margate Resort NH

  • We actually stayed up in Laconia this past September, it was for our anniversary and the NASCAR race. The Margate was on my list of hotels I was interested in staying at. I can't remember exactly why I chose not to book this hotel, but I think it was partly because it was a little on the pricey side and we really wanted to stay in a cottage on the Lake, not a hotel.

We ended up staying at the NASWA. Which was a cute little hotel, that had cottages and a hotel type. They had a nice, and fairly large, beach front property and a few nice restaurants on site. And there always seemed to be entertainment. Though the weekend of the NASCAR race was also a big weekend, so all the hotels in the area were packed, so I do not know their normal entertainment scheduling. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and it was definitely centrally located to everything in Laconia.

I read some good reviews on both hotels but I felt the NASWA just won out in my opinion. It just suited our style better and the prices were better. And we especially liked the restaurant that was right on the beach. I love the beach and the atmosphere and being able to dig my toes in the sand!

Hope this helps, and I hope you have a great vacation!
