Looking for advice, opinions, etc...

Not sure if many of us still get on here since we have the FB group now but I didn't really want to post this on there. I wasn't sure if the FB group was completely locked up where no one else could see it or not.

I'm looking for some advice, opinions, etc. I will try to make this short.

I'm on day 39 since the start of my last period. I have been off of birth control for several months, which has made my periods somewhat out of whack, but not like this. My period cycles have just ranged from like 26-30 days since being off birth control. I took a home pregnancy test Friday morning (which was day 36) & it was negative.

I guess what I'm wondering is what should my next step(s) be?  Thanks ladies :)

Re: Looking for advice, opinions, etc...

  • Have you been sick or stressed out lately? That always throws my cycles off.  Otherwise, I guess I would keep testing every other day until you get a positive or your period.  If it gets to be a few weeks longer than normal with neither...I would give your Dr. a call to see what's up.

    Good luck!!! :)

  • I would probably wait a few more days/week until when my next period would be, then I would call the doctor. I know in the past, both while on and off the pill I have completely missed periods before due to stress/illness/just being a couple of years since my last skipped period.  Or if you are really worried now, call your doctor to just let her know how long it has been and ask when she'd want to see you if it doesn't start/no positive test.

  • It can take up to a year for you body to get it's act together after stopping birth control.  Stress and illness are the most likely causes of wonky periods.    Most doctors won't do anything until you are closer to 60 days between periods.

Do you temp at all?  I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and highly recommend it.

  • Thank you ladies! I ended up starting this morning (Day 42). I had the flu the week of January 7th so I would assume that had something to do with it. Thanks again :)
