Ugh! Still sick - what's a good cold remedy?
I have had a terrible cold since Wednesday. This is my first day back to work. My normal go to dayquil/nyquil just isn't doing it. I tried to go to the doc yesterday but long story short I lost my patience and went home after an hour wait. So any suggestions as I sit here struggling to breathe and be productive at work.
Slainte!

If you're stuffy and/or congested, I strongly recommend irrigating your sinuses. It works wonders.
I do it twice a day when I'm sick, and once a day when I'm not sick. When I do get colds, they last all of a day or two, but I probably get them once a year since I started irrigating (not counting when I was pregnant and caught every bug that was going around).
Sorry you're not feeling well
It sucks.
irrigating your sinuses
I just looked this up - it sounds a little painful but beneficial.
I wonder what the allergist would say.
my read shelf:
What allows me to function when sick is:
2 dayquill caplets
1 multivitamin
Airborne (tablet dissolved in water)
2 echinacea
1 vitamin C tablet
I down this combo every 6 hours (multivitamin every 12) and it lets me function and helps me get over the cold quicker.
It's not painful, but it is a little strange until you get used to it.. I use the NeilMed packets and bottle. At first it feels a little bit like when you jump in the pool without holding your nose - but only on one side. After a couple of times it becomes totally no big deal.
Your allergist would likely be on board with this. I was very resistant to the idea until my GP, allergist and one of the ENTs I worked for all finally convinced me to try it. Now it's just part of the routine, like brushing my teeth.
Thanks for the suggestions. Off to walgreens to stock up on some stuff. I've been out of vitamin c and eccnacia - just relying on airborne but maybe the super dose will help.
my read shelf:
Don't waste your money on Airborne. ?They had to settle a lawsuit for falsifying their claims that it had been clinically proven (it wasn't). ?It's a regular ol' vitamin basically but costs a lot more.
Sleep and good nutrition are important. ?Echinacia is one of the few herbal remodies that people recommend that actually does show positive impact. ?So, spend your money there and then get good food with the airborne money.?

I also recommend irrigating your sinuses, but I prefer the neti pot over the squeeze bottle. As a singer, trust me, I've tried them all!
Feel better!
