Free-For-All Friday and weekend plans!
Let's hear what's going on in your head today and what you're doing this weekend!
Re: Free-For-All Friday and weekend plans!
helloooo...
This weekend:
I am trying to see my girlfriend and her newborn baby boy this weekend! I haven't heard back from her and know she is busy, but I am hoping to see her before she moves to Arizona at the end of the month!
Also, I agreed to go to the Car show with my husband on Saturday, reluctantly. But now since babies have been on the brain (in a few years), and we never buy a new car, maybe its a good time to look at some models of "momma cars" ... because likely, in 2-3 years these will be the cars on the lot I am looking at---is that totally far fetched? lol
Then we are heading to Bravo for a late lunch/early dinner! It's his favorite place and he's been asking to go.
So I guess Saturday is a DH day...he was away with me for work last week and tagged along to all my work events...so i wanted to do something he wanted to do.
We don't have superbowl plans, but we live in an apt complex with a community room down the hall and most people congregate there to watch the game
so i am excited to make these to share with a crowd:

And that's about it!! before I know it it will be Monday again
Oh and here is what is on my mind: I applied for a job that is exactly my job descroption at alex and ani, testing the waters to see if i would hear back..because I also applied for a few jobs at the next level up. I'm starting to think the hiring manager has a thing against me, because i keep applying for jobs I'm a great fit for and not hearing back...and then email her and she says the position is filled...I think she thinks I'm a nag?!
Also applied to a job in North Carolina at an advertising firm and haven't heard anything back. Last time I applied at this company, I heard back in a week that i wasn't a fit. and now it has been two weeks and no word...maybe its a good sign?
please keep me in your thoughts regarding a job, I am getting so frustrated and stagnant where I am now.
Also, I just applied to be a Big Sister for Big sisters RI, i have an interview and training next week...I'm excited, but a bit nervous!!
Today, I have both kids home sick. But, DH had taken today as a vacation day, so at least I have some extra hands. It's bound to be a lazy day. I see lots of Disney-Pixar movies in my near future.
Tomorrow is likely to be another day of resting and nursing the kids back to health. I hope they're feeling better by Monday. My daughter hates that she had to miss school today.
Sunday, we have church and will watch the Puppy Bowl, then the Super Bowl, from the comfort of our couch.
DS was supposedly acting sick and had a fever at daycare yesterday. 45 minutes later when I picked him up, he was fine and had no fever, but he did tell me his teeth hurt. (Alicia, I got the call right when you would have been arriving - glad you weren't on your way here!)
There's much more to the story, but we're now looking into other options for childcare. I don't want to say too much here until it's all said and done, but I'm really sad to be leaving the teachers because they are great. I just wish the office staff enforced rules equally for all families and had policies that made sense... but they don't seem to care. I'm going to cry a LOT if/when we have to pull DS away from his friends and favorite teacher.
Weekend plans: DH is going to part of a bachelor party in Boston during the day tomorrow, so I'll be single parenting again (as I was for yesterday afternoon and this morning, before DS was allowed back to daycare after his "fever"). It was easier than I thought it would be, but still exhausting. In the afternoon, a bunch of my high school friends are coming over to meet Clare. No plans for Sunday, probably just making DH watch the kiddos as much as possible while I catch up on some sleep. And I'd really like to work in my first postpartum alcoholic beverage at some point... I have the pumped milk for Clare but just haven't made the time to sit, relax, and enjoy a beer.
Jen - we totally went mom-car shopping at the auto show last year. I wanted something with AWD and a little larger trunk than what I had in my Nissan Versa, but DS was little and it was wintertime and car shopping would have been miserable. The car show was amazing to walk around inside, see all the different brands all at once, and be able to compare on the spot. We also brought our carseat in with us, since we wanted to make sure it would fit comfortably in the middle seat without squishing the front seat passengers. With a minivan you're guaranteed to have enough room, but I wanted a small crossover. We narrowed it down to 2 cars then and there, and we only had to go to dealerships to test drive 2 before I knew what I wanted. It was awesome. We ended up buying used (2010 bought in May 2012... yes it took us a while to test drive, lol) but the layout of the cars hadn't changed so we knew the size would be big enough.
And my pet peeve is HR not responding to people's applications. It happened to me all the time when I was looking. There was one company in particular where the job description was perfect, but no one ever even acknowledged that they got my resume. Now I work with a contractor from that company, and he wishes that they had hired me! (I wish they had, too, as I'm not using much of my degree in my current job and would have used it there... but hey, at least I have a job) .
Also, Big Brothers Big Sisters is an amazing organization. I was a big sister when I was in college in upstate NY, and I loved every minute of it. It is definitely something I will do again when my kiddos are a little bigger because it was incredibly rewarding for me to watch my little sister grow up over those few years.
Alicia, hope your kiddos feel better!
oh good! I am glad I am not the only one using the car show for that reason/ We would def. buy preowned in a year or two. I have two years left on my car loan so ideally, I'd like that paid off before we add another!
I am also looking for a larger crossover, but lately have been pulled towards SUVS!
