I think my wedding has turned me into a snob!

We have a friend getting married next month. Let's call her M. Well, M was planning her wedding during our wedding.

Not only did M not send the reply back, but when we called her she responded yes for her and FI. Well, come wedding time her FI wasn't there. She said he was busy with school. Really? You couldn't call me the week before (she traveled so she would have known in advance in couldn't come) to tell me plans had changed before we shelled out $100 for his plate?

Ok, so those things happen at weddings and with other no shows, I thought nothing of it. I just thought someone that was planning a wedding would know better.

Now it's time for their wedding. We can't go so I got on there wedding website for an address to send a check (I had already sent the reply card). They have a honeymoon registry. I looked at it and sure enough 5% fee for whatever I give. Total side eye.

I think I just tried so hard in every aspect of my wedding to follow etiquette, I've become a snob at other people's weddings! Not good, so hopefully that subsides with time.

  • I totally watch out for these things, too =]  So don't worry!

  • I am the same way! I feel like I followed wedding etiquette very well when planning my own wedding that it pisses me off when others totally drop the ball.

My brother just got engaged on Christmas day and they plan to get married in June 2014. My brother asked his BFF to be BM and my H to be GM. His FI picked 7 of her BMs and asked that my brother have 7 guys.

He even side-eyed her adding her roommates as BMs saying "once you finish school I bet you will never talk to them again." Probably true because they are getting married a year after she graduates...

Is it wrong I look forward to the drama that will unfold with her BP, because I know it will, it ALWAYS seems to when people jump the gun and ask way to quickly.

Gosh, I feel bad for my brother.

I remember you posting about that! I had a similar situation in which my brother told me I wasn't a BM because his FI didn't want uneven sides (I had uneven sides, people are more important, IMO). With websites like TK, it boggles my mind people don't do more research during wedding planning!

  • Oh man, I'm a total wedding snob now, too!!  Our best friends are getting married next month and we got their invite and it was super cute, but they included registry info in their invite!  I was like WTF?!  Hahaha  I sort of wish I would have known before she sent them out so I could give her a heads up, but really?
