Ok...so has everyone heard about this new plan they are drafting through congress? I was reading an article earlier and apparentely there is a draft of a plan that will make it so that you have to have an electronic monitoring device in your car to chart milage and you're charged taxes for every mile that you drive.
I'm actually really angry about this because I do commute longer, but that is only because there are such rare jobs! H and I are moving back to our home state next year, and I'm applying for a job in one county and we're planning to live in another because the pay is better in the one county, but the cost of living is unrealistic to start off. So now I feel like if I am going to be charged to drive, then is it even worth it?
I fully believe in green incentives. I recycle, I do my best to conserve my trips in my car, we turn off lights and water, etc, but this goes a little too far in my eyes. It sounds like they are trying to get people to take public transportation, but sometimes that is not a realistic goal--ex:I would NEVER travel on the DART buses here--they scare the sh*t out of me when I'm driving near them, let alone on them. Plus I work out of state.
Ok...I'm done with my rant now...
Re: Car Milage Tax?
I did some more research on it and appears to be an action that has been on the floor of congress for over a year. This makes me feel better because it is obviously not a progressive reform, but still.
I doubt they choose to pursue this bill instead of... I don't know... fixing all the more important sh!t that's wrong, like taxes, healthcare, etc...
I haven't heard of this before, but it sounds extremely unrealistic and stupid.
